Where do you buy your glitter?
Hi all! I'm new to the forum; my name is Mel, and I own a princess party business in Canada! We offer face painting as an option to add on to parties, and I also added glitter tattoos recently! I bought a starter kit off of ebay (Maybel's glitter) which I love, but am just wondering what you guys pay for / where you get your glitter refills!
Also, for anyone else operating in Canada: some of my clients have mentioned that $50 an hour as an add on to our parties is too steep! I figure, at 12 kids a party (which is usually our limit) with the regular price of tattoos being $5 a pop, it's a pretty good deal! Thoughts?

Re: Where do you buy your glitter?
most places in Edmonton are charging $100 a hour to add facepainting (just researched for sons' birthday party)

Welcome to the Forum, Mellygee911!
If you go into your Profile, above, you can type your general location. It is easier for other face painters in your area to invite you to jams, split face paint orders, ans share shipping costs.
Where in Canada are you from?
I live in Toronto.
I think rates are different in different parts of Canada... although THAT SAME CUSTOMER who says our rates are too high seems to follow us face painters around is exactly the same everywhere.
The Search Box on this Forum is very... Specific. If you go into your computer's own search engine and type in
facepaintforum nutbar
You may find that cheapo client.
If you want professional results, hire a professional, as professional rates. The NutBar Lady does not want to hear that. She wants to dine at Canoe, or Susur,s and pay McDonald's rates.
There is a place to post and share your artwork to a kind, warm, non-judgemental audience in the thread Show and Tell. There is a game of Face Paint Tag going on in the Tag! You're it! Thread.
Happy Painting!

Re: Where do you buy your glitter?
I live in calgary and charge 75.00 / hr for up to 15 kids. They can have 2 small or one regular size. It goes up by 5.00 per person if they add more. I don't do it as an add on as I am usually alone and it takes too much time.
Re: Where do you buy your glitter?
I do either face painting OR glitter tatts, not both. If they want both they pay for another artist.

Re: Where do you buy your glitter?
Thanks for the input everyone! I suppose I should clarify: I'm not the face-painter! I have a few employees who are skilled, and so they do that aspect of add-on's, while I do the glitter tattoos. So what happens then, is that while one of the actresses is entertaining as a princess at an event, I help keep the kids entertained with glitter tattoos.
That crazy client! Just in general, I have people emailing me ALL the time, asking if they can have a special rate (complete random strangers!) and I have to bite my tongue to keep from asking, "and what, pray tell, makes you so special?" I'm from the Kitchener Waterloo area, so you would think we could tap into the market of rich Rim employees, but no such luck with the turmoil there lately!
