Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
I have finally took the plunge and hosted a site with yahoo. I love all the options wix doesn't offer, but it's definitely different to use their builder. Any of you would take the time to look around and offer advice, PLO would greatly appreciate it. Tia.

Looks good!
My advice - read everything out loud so that you catch missed words and hear how it sounds to a layman reading it. Under Eva - the word sculpting is missing a letter. Under a little about the company - it says “couple times” instead of “couple of times” - personally I think it would sound better to say 'a few times’. Under the Gallery - I think all the different design titles should have the same font and be capitalized the same way - some are all caps, some have first letter caps, some have no caps at all.
I didn’t see anything about how many people you can paint in one hour or about your service area.
My personal opinion (and I’m sure I’ll get reamed for this) is that professional websites should not include religious tones. Saying you met at church is one thing but one of the first things I saw was “We love the Lord”. Religion is such a personal thing that I don’t think it should be in the forefront like that. But like I said it’s just MY opinion. Depending on where you live and who your clients are, it could work in your favor.

and it says - We only FDA compliant - missing the word use.
It’s a cute website though. Mine has TOO much info - I need to go through it and delete some stuff.

Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Thanks so much Evie! I did catch a couple of those things and hope to get them corrected tonight. In an attempt to keep it simple I missed putting in some inportant info. I didn't even think to put how many kids I can paint in an hour. I know being so forthcoming with my religion can be off putting to some customers, and that's ok with me. There has to be at least 35 other local painters they can choose from. I think being a Christian owned and ran business can have some benefits also. I am off to make some website changes.
Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Lastly - I don’t think the average person will recognize name brands of paints, you could probably leave that out and use that space for other info.
I am constantly adding and changing things on my website and on my contract, paperwork etc., so take my advice with a grain of salt. I’m only being critical because you asked but it really does look fine as is.

Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
You are probably right. I could just say they are FDA compliant and hypoallergenic. Although my newest booking required msds sheets for every product I use :/
Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
you’re welcome - and that is the beauty of running our own business, we get to do it how we want. Best of luck with your new site!
Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Do you have comments/reviews from your clients? I think reviews are good. It's nice to see what OTHERS think of your work.
I am glad that you have a Facebook connection, but why not put it somewhere else and make it bigger and more eye catching - put it inside of a starburst? Don't use pink or green. Use white, it will stand out around the pink and green copy.
Is there any way to make your photo size increase with a click? Some sites have this feature. I like it because everyone can appreciate the detail in your work. You mentioned there is a LOT of competition out there. Make sure that everyone can see the beauty in what you do.
Hopefully, you will spend time every few months, updating info, changing photos for the upcoming holidays, or advertising upcoming events. Always something to do, but it's fun. Good luck!

I think you did a great job on your website. It looks like you made some changes and that's great. You kept the Lord and you stood your ground and by your convictions, you will be blessed.
My one thing about your website is this, why is the writing so small? Small fonts are hard to see and I think what is he/she trying to hide??? I know nothing is being hidden in this case, but others don't know that. It reminds me of being in a lawyers office and trying to read the small print and between the lines. My website is black too but I enlarge my fonts. I can only get through a few sentences and my eyes tear up on your site. I notice that many people do this on their websites for you are not alone. Then some of us no matter what our age have eye problems. I can only enlarge my screen just so much and then I am having to slide it from side to side.
Maybe I am really cynical about this world but that's me. If I have to enlarge my screen so big to read something I will close the tab or back-space to another one. I think all in all you built a wonderful site.

Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
I forgot this and I am so sorry. You said that you love the LORD (that's great) but you also say in the next sentence that "between the talent and the Love we share". You are assuming that all people think as you do about God. There are too many people out there in all walks of life that are non believers and have no faith at all, or they are just plain atheist. This might just drive them off if they don't share in that same Love.

Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Under your about section you say you've taken dozens of hours in online face painting classes. Can you just leave the online part out, I think it would make you sound more credible without it.
Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
I like it, I like how you use the back background and the neon letters. It look simple and organize.
Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Personally I'm OCD about layouts so my comments below are just nitpicking.
I highly recommend you have all the pages align the same way on the screen. Home is centered, About is off to the left, Gallery is centered, Rates off to the left, Contact off to left. Make them all left or (preferably) all centered.
On the Home page instead of the text for liking you on Facebook, put a Facebook graphic tastefully somewhere on the page. You can find a million FB logos on google.
On the About page I'd remove the asterisks before the name of each company. Generally in 'bullet lists' I only use bullets if the list is left aligned. When the list is centered it doesn't look right. It looks more like I should be looking for a footnote somewhere.
I like the Gallery page especially since you kept the pictures all a uniform size. I'm not personally a fan of the multicolored fonts though. I'd recommend removing the underlining. It makes me think they should be links instead of just titles. I'd also recommend changing the font to match what's on the Home page so it matches (Comic Sans?). Too many fonts leaves professional and enters gaudy imo.
On the Rates page I'd find a way to integrate the glitter tattoo information into your price table. Keep all pricing information in the same spot so customers can easily/quickly compare.
e.g.
Text | 1 FP | 1 FP/+Glitter | 2 FPs | 2 FPs/+Glitter | Glitter Only
If you felt especially creative, you could go to google maps or somewhere and zoom into a 40 mile radius of your zip code and then tell users if they're outside this area there will be a 2 hr minimum booking.
Great start on your page!

Re: Would you please offer criticism on my new site?
Thank you ladies so much. I am going to start working on all suggestions.
Dash, the page alignment is driving me crazy but I haven't figured out how to fix it yet.
I am also going to link the names in the gallery to their own page but haven't gotten that far yet. I do agree with all of your criticism though, I am a bit OCD myself but its hard for me to see it in my own work.
Gypsy I will also change "the love we share", you are absolutely correct, I don't wont to sound like a creepo.
Thank you all so much! This is exactly why I asked for help knowing that you guys have such a keen eye!
Feel free to keep the suggestions coming. I am off to paint my new house hopefully I can get back to the website soon!
