Hey guys, have any of you ever got in contact with a long lost friend?
I just found my primary school best friend on facebook and I have all sorts of feeling flying around, I know she may have changed and that though I feel like I know her soooo much may have changed after 10+ years. Embarassed Embarassed I sent her a message and am waiting on her response... I'm so nervous and excited but trying to hold it in just in case she doesn't want to talk to me...
Have anyone of you had this happen? Contacted a past friend or had one contact you? Do share your thoughts below!Very Happy

I have reconnected with my best friend from high school. We have yet to be able to get together, but we will plan it someday. We had been out of touch for over 30 years!

I never did it myself, but know lots of friends who have. I find, from their stories, that it's initially exciting and fun, but then you realize you both have moved on and aren't really that compatible anymore, especially if the friend is from when you were young. But it's fun and doesn't hurt to try, so why not!!!

I initially thought of something along the lines of what Tina said. After ten years me and a high school friend got back together, but we had grown so far apart that we really had nothing to say and actually sat in silence for most of the time. But, I'm sure that's not always the case! So try for it! At least you'll know.

Last year I had a reunion of the elementary school but just from the class I was in.
Most of them I haven't seen since then.
But it was such a wonderful experience, so nice, that we as a group decided to get together once every 5 years.... So well it went.
I am doubtful if it will really work out that way though.
At least for next time (in 2017) we already planned a date.

Some of them I speak still mainly through Facebook.

In the past 5 years, I've gotten in touch w/two high school friends. We've called & visited since then & we are amazed at how easily we related to each other.
Thank you for this thread, though, because my closest friend from Jr high & I had drifted apart. She's Godmother to our oldest child & we just lost touch over the past 5 years. I kept meaning to contact her but your post gave me the push I needed. SO glad I did for many reasons. See, you never know what effect your words here have on others! 👭

I reconnect and get along!

I guess it depends on your personality, and how much you like to talk...

only 2 times have I gotten in touch with an old friend and it didn't go well-1) they were STILL immature and childish, and doing illegal activities for a good time....ewww, I don't deal with potheads, sorry!not my idea of fun ever!!!!
and 2)I found myself doing all of the updating....they were just "oh that's great" or "oh I'm happy for you"....it's a 2 way road, if you can't share what you've been up to, then this aint gonna work, buddy.

but for the most part, even the people I just knew in passing, when we reconnected, we are actually better friends NOW because we have more in common, and as long as you share the same opinion or outlooks, you will be fine.

oh, I forgot, one of them grew up to be racist,,,they were still nice to me, but I found out on their facebook they had all these evil things to say about black people....and I'm just like omg.....are you kidding me!
so I can't be friends with someone so racist....but we had a nice conversation, reminisced, and from then on, it is a "hi, how are you", "good, and you?" "fine, okay bye" type of friendship.

I will warn you, if you run into the old boys you had a crush on, and they have grown into sexy sexy sexy men....oh, be careful...
especially if they say they wanna date you and always thought you were attractive too....

my favourite friendships have been my spanish friends...
over the last ten years, not only have I learned lots of Spanish from my Hispanic employees (who teach me the difference between puertorican words, Mexican words, Portuguese words, Spanish words and Guatemalan words), but all my broken English friends from middeschool now speak perfectly fluent English!!!!

so you can imagine just how much more fun it is to talk now-sometimes they are raunchy humor that I never even would have guessed because they only knew such polite sweet English words before!!!
