The pink bling and wispy black blend in the pink eyes!! are nice!!! I have had those events where I sweat the details and do practice and sketches and then when I get there - nothin, nada, nobody wants what the client had in mind..... Good thing we "creative" types know how to go with the flow!!!

Masquerade Masks - Page 2 Empty Re: Masquerade Masks

Post by Kristal Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:05 am

Thanks, everyone! I thought it went pretty well - it's just so hard to read tone in emails, you know? I guess as long as there are no complaints...haha. This is the 3rd or 4th birthday I've done for her - let's see if I get hired again for the summer party!

I don't usually get a chance to use bling or gems, so this was a nice change! I'm trying to think of how I can work adding them into a package, or if I should just keep them for specific gigs.

And I just bought a couple of rake brushes a few weeks ago - oh MAN what a difference it makes when dragging the outline in! I'd managed to get that look with q-tips occasionally, but a rake brush is a dream! I want to get a smaller one for jewels.

And yeah, that's why themes, while nice to know, sometimes just don't affect us. As long as the kids are having fun, why should they only be allowed designs that match the theme if they don't want them? We even had a trial run for this event and I didn't see the client, let along paint her!

Oh well - c'est la vie, oui?

Kristal, the second mask you did is my new favourite design! I've 'borrowed' it...I hope you don't mind. It actually goes quite quick too. It's so pretty. I did several tonight at the Olympics Torch Relay. I'd painted myself with it so I got a few requests. I thought with the red and white, it'd be a good 'Canadian' design for those that didn't want flames or the mascots. Very Happy

I agree with Cat, you could layer different metallic colours over top of each other, to create almost a scale-rainbow effect. You could even bring some of the dots down the cheeks in a very sporadic way. You could use liquid bling to detail, ribbons, eye holes, that sort of thing. I think you will have a lot of fun with it regardless, good luck

There is a new video on Sillyfarm for Valentine day. I am going to change some of the colors and paint at my Marti Gras gig. Also, there is a St.Pat one on same page I am using on the guys making a mask or diamond instead of a shamrock. I love those videos
