Best pearlescent/iridescent white for this purpose?
I'm doing makeup for a friend's "snow queen" photoshoot, and in my head I'm thinking of covering her, not in an opaque white, but in something shimmery and translucent. Her latin, dark-skinned husband is also in the mix posing as the holly king - they'll both have white wigs on - and I'm kind of clueless as to what to do with him that won't just make him look pasty.
Anybody got any tips for which of the pearl whites can give me a good sparkle without making them look like zombies? I have no experience with any of the pearls except snaz, and that only with pink and purple.

I got some of the Mehron diamond powder. It's pretty without covering too much. I'll post a photo later.

Also, when creating gorgeous translucent white shimmery skin.....
the teeth and whites of the eyes appear yellowy in contrast to the white.
I tend to lean toward a gold shimmer around the mouth and eyes to make the teeth appear whiter.
Happy Face Painting!

Here's the Mehron precious gem powder on my arm. On the left I put a drop of glycerin rubbed in to give it something to grip to...it doesn't stick very well to bare, dry skin. If you are doing an all over sheen, I think mineral powders are better than paint.

Thanks for the tips, you all. And yes, fesspenter - good call, wouldn't even have thought of that!

I would go with a few shades lighter in foundation with a golden undertone. I would mix in a luminzer in a gold tone as well. When working with flash photography any amount of shimmer will reflect back much lighter than it looks in real light.
You should go in and define the contours of his face and if working on his body contour and define his muscles to give him a more powerful, masculine look. Then go in and highlight with a shimmer powder that has a golden hue. you can even mix a little white into it to make him appear more frosty.
