Hello from Oregon
Hello everyone,
I lurked around today and decided to join. I've only face painted a few times. My Mom is more of an expert and she has me help when she's in my area. I really enjoy it and want to get better. I just have my Klutz book with the Wolfe paints. I'm looking to expand my kit and to learn some tips.

Thanks for the welcome, Stephen and Kris. This place is a bit intimidating with the skill level of some of the people here. Everyone appears to be really friendly though.

Everyone starts somewhere. There is a section for newbies to post their photos. This is a great place to start.

Hi Beth! and welcome! You're right, everyone one here is friendly and ever so helpful. Hope you will stick around and join us...Try out the "New to Face Painting" section with the "Show and Tell" threads, that's where a lot of us new people share our work...for starting out it is less "intimidating" than the other places (even tho no one will be 'mean' to you where ever you post, becos everyone is so supportive here!)
What part of Oregon are you in? I'm near Eugene.

Welcome to the Forum!
There is a thread to post and share your art work to a kind, caring, non-judgemental audience called Show and Tell.
There is a thread where we were playing Face Paint Tag called TAG! You're it! It will probably start up again once the busy summer season is over.
Happy Painting!

Re: Hello from Oregon
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Valerie, I'm in the Portland Metro area.
I don't actually have any pictures to share. Anything I do is mostly from the new Klutz book. I was actually wondering about using ideas from other people's artwork when I face paint? I don't have anything original and I wouldn't claim it's mine. Is there any rule about this? If I posted photos, then it wouldn't truly be original work of mine. It would be my version of other work.

Re: Hello from Oregon
Dear this_beth:
Yes, it would be a copy of someone else's work.....and it would be YOUR copy. We all started by copying what we see. If you know who the original artist is....credit them on your art work. You are correct in not posting others' photos of their work, their children on your board.
Happy Painting!

Re: Hello from Oregon
You have a good point. It is totally creepy to have someone's children on my board without them knowing about it. I still need to make my own board. So far I've just been using the Klutz books and the kids always pick the ones I'm not good at. I will look on here for ideas.fesspenter wrote:Dear this_beth:
