When do you make contact again?

I did an event, March 8 and 9 for a charity I've done an event for before with no issues.
Now I do agree I had a little mix up this time so it is partially my fault but March 11th I was emailed about my address so that I could receive payment.

I still haven't received it and I'm wondering should I email/call again or how long should I wait?

well I would give them a call, if you email they can say they didn't received it.

I think in the future I'm going to insist on talking to accounting for large corporations and just double-checking arrangements. I didn't get the check at the time of the event from the organizer (as per contract) and I had to hound them to get it. Made me feel badly and the poor accountant (who wasn't properly informed) wasn't told she was supposed to get me a check at the time.

The thing that made me mad is he (the organizer) pulled the "didn't you get that?" when I asked for the check at the event and claimed it was mailed out. Of course, when I called accounting she had no idea the check was even supposed to be made up before the event. Finally got it two weeks afterwards.

I'm afraid you are going to have to hound the right person. Don't wait. I was emailing and on the phone the day afterwards and it still took 10 days.

Big companies/corporations usually have a 30 day turn-around cycle. I would do as Denise advises & next time get a retainer up front so you know at the time if they have organizational issues & you can pre-empt some of it. (One school district now pays my retainer as they are notorious for taking MONTHS to get a check to me. Now I at least have half, and I am always pleasantly surprised by the other half when it arrives after I've forgotten about it!)

Yah, don't be afraid to call them, be polite but ask your questions. I have learned to be very specific about payment. I have had one issue where I had to call and actually talk to the CEO of the advertising company, and it still took a month after that. When I talked to the accounts payable lady she was very rude and sarcastic so I made sure he knew about that too. It was 3 months in total but I didn't give up or back down. Now, I make sure they understand the terms and a deposit is required for all jobs, no matter how small. YOu go get em girl.
