Spring planting
So I don't know how many of you garden on your free time, I like to get my hands dirty. So I spent most the day scavenged rocks from a creek near me, and making a wishing well type planter. I'm extremely happy with the results. I transplanted some plants, as long as planted some seeds.
here is the results.

Re: Spring planting
The snow is smashing and bashing on the ground right now.
Spring Shmring!
I am putting on mukluks to get to my car right now. Maybe I should wear some more clothing, too.

Re: Spring planting
i cant help but giggle, I lived with tons of snow in New Hampshire till I moved 8 years ago. I love the barely any snow winters now.
Re: Spring planting
I live in Minnesota and the winter seems to be dragging on... We got a little spoiled last year. It was 70* on St. Paddy's last year!

I had to scrape a foot of snow off my car after work... it is a winter wonderland out there.

It got up to 17C here today, melted most of the last dump of snow, but I hear there is more ont he way over the next 3-4 days. It gets old this time of year.

I'm not a gloater by nature but here goes: Gorgeous purple and yellow crocuses are up. Tulips are 4-5" high. Daffodil and hyacinth greenery is poking through. And ... well ... YEAH! It's spring here!!!

Re: Spring planting
This is beautiful! I love it.
We start our plants inside about this time of the year, but we still freeze until about Mid May.
I normally do a garden, but not this year. I love and hate gardens---I love working on it when I want to, but I am not a big fan of canning and freezing, but it is growing on me! (no pun intended)

Re: Spring planting
Snowing and blowing here. No green in sight. Might drop below 0 F (-18 C) tonight. Quite tired of winter. Not likely to have any outdoor flowers this year until May.

Re: Spring planting
That is a lovely rock garden. I need to get more rock to build mine up a bit this year.
It is still cold to plant here as well in fact the forecast says we may get snow today. I kind of hope so as I have felt rather cheated this year with my lack of it. Anyways it is just the right time to start our seeds inside. We started dropping our seeds last week. So far my cells hold over 72 tomatoes, 36 eggplants, 34 bell peppers, about 100 onions and 3 salad mix bowls. Still have lots and lots of seeds to plant. Hot Peppers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Hot Peppers, and more. Then I can start on my flower seeds. lol I have lots of herbs to plant as well. By the time I get done doing all the starts inside there won't be room for us anymore! lol But we are able to provide about 75% of our families yearly produce consumption from our little homestead. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good apple harvest this year.
