Flyers, Yea or Nay?
So I got my business cards already (LOVED what I got from GotPrint.com)
But I am considering flyers... I picked up some festive bordered paper from the dollar tree, and I was going to print in black (free printing for black, and the paper has color)
But I am wondering, what should I have on the flyer... has anyone else made use of a flyer, and what are some creative ways to advertise involving a flyer? I am going to work on my design (i know name, contact and such is important)
But any input would be appreciated! (I'm balloon twister and newbie face painter)

Place them where parents go. It doesn't make sense to blanket windshields at the mall. But visit child-related businesses and ask about posting them. Also, placing one at grocery stores might work. It did once for me, but, just once.

call around to local daycares--head starts--most of our public schools here won't let me send them home with kids--but some private/charter schools might.
Give them to local churches, kids clothing stores, toy stores, call party planners, --good luck!

Re: Flyers, Yea or Nay?
I have both flyers and business cards at events...I give everyone and anyone a business card...If I get inquiry about a party I take out the flyer..In my case I worked with my printer's graphic designer and had them printed on nice thick shiney paper I think it was 43.00 (give or take) for 200 double sided full color. One side has types of events we are available for and photos and the other is a price list...I can email ya a copy when I get the updated version back if you would like to see it? Just sent it off to update some pictures and pricing... Just PM me. Jod

Thank y'all for advice! The pack of colorful bordered paper, I put name, that I'm a Non-Clown Entertainer (for some reason, that is really important to me) Types of events and that I balloon/facepaint. At the bottom I put the tear off tabs that have business card info. I think these types would be great for the grocery stores/daycare what have you...
I LOVE the idea of a special flyer to hand out to interested parties. Kind of like a brochure! I'll probably have to put that into the marketing budget.

It depends on your target markets. Around here there are not that many bulletin boards that allow you to post commercial stuff and if there are they pull everything off once a week.
I wouldn't bother with putting flyers on cars (in some areas it is actually illegal) - I know that it pisses me off to find something stuck under my wiper blade.
We get flyers in the mail and hand delivered both at work and at home - frankly most end up going right in the recycle bin.
When I first started out I did a flyer but I mailed it out to prospective clients.
Now I use postcards - which work way better and look much more professional.
