Hi Metina!
I used the Wolf metallic rose. There was a little red on my brush so it softened the pink a bit and made a really nice lip color.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Heck, I entered just to see if I could do it! You're all so incredible here and I'm such a newby- ya'll have really stepped up my game! Everything I've done up to now has been copying other's work- I really wanted to see if I could come up with something of my own.
I really just entered for the 15% discount LOL!

Haha, the discount is as good a reason as any!
I love the entries so far. I'm really hoping to get one in...time management, please kick in! Perhaps I'll squeak an entry in on Tuesday before the cut off...

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Mandy and Erica, you have simply awesome entries!
I love the idea of a stained glass design, and it's the first time I have seen it used in face painting!
Fantastic work!

my contest entry
Hope this works and I get it in the right part of the forum!! *fingers crossed*
I have had Twas The Night Before Christmas stuck in my head all season, and since it is reported to have been written in 1823, I assume it qualifies for vintage? LOL Hope the final pictures show the design, I only got a few of my four year old model before her three year old brother whacked her and made her cry. LOL
Supplies used, #4 round, paradise sponges I think, paradise, snaz and DFX make up.
Step 1 and 2- I sponged on dfx yellow mixed with white for the moon, then sponged on paradise dark blue for the top of the sky, blended down into paradise light blue for the lower horizon. I used DFX white for the snow along the horizon and the edge of the dream balloon
Step 3 I used snaz skin tone to start the face of Ma and Pa
Step 4 Finished the faces of Ma in her kerchief and Pa in his Cap and added trees and a barn on the snow
Step 5 Started adding the silouhette of Santa's sleigh and reindeer across the moon, then added twinkling stars and snow flakes in the sky.
Step 6 Outlined the definition of the snow and the thought balloon with DFX black
Step 7 I added the title across the chin.
Step 8 Take model to the store to show off and buy candy for doing such a fabulous job of sitting still for mom to play!
Cheers all!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I love the painting, but I have to say, the model is beautiful, just beautiful. Her eyes are amazing.
I did say I loved the painting didn't I? Beautiful job, and perfect model

Re: Post Submissions Here!
When I think of vintage, I think of Currier & Ives prints, so my inspiration was the 1873 print of 'The Road' which was popular for holiday cards, stamps, cookie tins, ect. Due to available lighting, it was very strong on the right and washed out some of the colors.
The photos are so tiny but I finally figured out how to add a RockYou slide show!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Gamezgirl,
Very nicely done! Great design.
I notice that your slide show is not posted correctly. I had a terrible time figuring this out. Must have spent all afternoon trying to get everything posted right!
What you need to do is go to Rockyou and click on "your stuff". You will see a little thumbnail of your slideshow with some buttons under it. Click on "publish". Next you will see a bunch of tabs down and to the left of your slideshow. Click on "Friendster" then copy the code they give you. Use that code to post and your slideshow will come up on here.
Good luck! (I agree, your model is gorgeous!)
Susan, lovely design! So delicate and painterly. Definitely vintage. Love it!!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Erica,
It looks like Susan chose to post the step by step images in the post rather than doing a slide show. This is fine by the rules. But thanks for offering to help. Some of this techno stuff is frustrating.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Oh my, I didn't know Erica was talking about my entry as I don't think my manikin head is as georgous as that darling little girl in the previous entry.
The techno stuff is really frustrating for a computer challenged dinosaur like me, too!!! I've been so busy, I'm barely able to keep up with the Forum with everything else piling up, needing immediate attention.
Thanks for putting up with me ; )
Cheers,
Susan

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thanks for the compliment, Erica. I felt like I was doing a watercolor, not a face painting, but it was a fun challenge ; D

Don't worry, it is my post she was talking about, instead of my slideshow showing up on here it is a link... and I love your vintage painting...very warm feeling to it...well done. Tough competition this time eh?
