Or you could make glitter lip balm! (ohhh the possibilities could be endless! if you need some recipe lmk as I have tons!)
Great ideas!
I am just getting my set up together over the winter for spring. I definitely plan to sell things though even if I have to pay an extra fee or charge tax. No biggie for me and I can fit a bunch on just 2 tables. The booths around here are very cheap though at our local festivals and markets. I am going to sell hair things mainly if I am able with my face painting set up (headbands, scarves, hats, snoods, etc. I have another place to sell things at the artco-op in our town so I am keeping them separated to a point.(toys, handmade soap and larger items like quilts at the art co-op).
The only other idea I had was to sell mini face paint kits. Wondering about possibly buying some wholesale now..

I wouldn't worry about spraying glitter on someone's hair. you're not going to get into trouble for that. an even if someone questioned you, so what? Do you really think the state board of cosmetology in your state will be scoping you out? (that's not the way it works at all really, they follow up on complaints in SALONS and do inspections yearly. that's it. they aren't going to bother you unless you are setting up a hair salon and offering major services. They have too much other stuff to worry about) You have no license so they aren't going to do anything but give you a warning if it ever comes down to it. and I am 99% sure it won't. relax!!!
if you are using bobbie pins, definitely one time use. that is pretty standard in the hair industry. Now if you were using hair clips you can just sanitize those between clients (bobby pins will rust).

Re: Selling products along with facepainting at a festival?
My supplies came in today and I'm very impressed with the quality of the items... I was expecting cheap, flimsy crowns and stuff, but these are really pretty! And the pirate hats are very well made- especially the pirate hooks! Thanks for the suggestion to go to Oriental Trading! I got the crowns from PartyMart because OT was out of the ones I wanted. Either way, I'm very impressed and I think the kids will be, too! I've set up a time for a couple of "models" (actually a brother and sister) who are 5 and 7 so I can make them up and take pictures, for this weekend. I'll post them when I have them done!

I've done a few festivals and have my 3 daughters helping me. We do face painting, glitter tattoos, airbrush tattoos, transfer tattoos, selling crowns and little bubbles, balloon animals, you name it we had it. The most profit at one of the festivals was close to $1,000.
I love festivals :0)

I was able to do the facepainting for the premium faces today with my little models:
Here is the "premium princess face", which comes with facepainting & stick-on-jewels, tiara, boa, glitter hairspray and a special gift: glitter gel in a pink organza drawstring bag:
Here is the "premium pirate face", which comes with facepainting, their choice of a bandana or pirate hat, gold hoop earring, and pirate hook and a special gift: gold doubloons in a black velvet drawstring bag:
I also took a picture with the "birthday princess" crown for the birthday girl at birthday parties:
We played around afterwards and they had so much fun!
I'm not the greatest photographer so I hope these came out okay! I'm going to have them blown up and use them in my display outside my booth and also in my brochures and flyers.

Wonderful idea. They are totally cute. I think I would pay for it for my son.
What I'm selling
I have four daughters and make tons of stuff for them and sell on etsy as well so I'm taking some of my items with me to this Fair I'm doing, I'm selling handmade tutu's (super easy, I have a pattern for sale if you like) magic wands, wings, and hair flowers and other hair accessories. for boys maybe you could sell pirate swords or eye patches. I'm also thinking about having a little station where the kids can make their own bead jewelry while they are waiting for their face to get painted or get their fingernails painted for $2. I think it is all about making kids happy and drawn to your tent
