Are ALL polyester glitters created equal??
I realized this morning that ALL the glitter I have for "crafts" is polyester glitter. I also saw that the "cosmetic" glitter is polyester glitter......are they all equal???
I have LOADS of colors, I paid $.75/each for 21 gram containers (w/ coupons) and would LOVE to repurpose and use for face painting (since I already own it).
But are they ALL the same?? Would it be safe??

Re: Are ALL polyester glitters created equal??
It is not if the glitter is polyester or metal that is the difference as many believe. Of course glitter is safest in polyester form and should only be used on the face and body. And the sizes can be small or large in either.
The difference in craft or cosmetic (polyester) glitters is the paint. The paint used to coat the glitters. In order for it to be approved for use on humans the pigments must be FDA compliant. So just like craft paint vs cosmetic paint the colorants used on humans need to meet FDA standards.

How about the glitter used for tattoos? is this the same as the one we use on the face?
Re: Are ALL polyester glitters created equal??
All glitters and micas used on the face or body need to cosmetic grade.
So yes, use the same cosmetic grade glitter for face painting, airbrush tattoos, glitter tattoos, body painting....

Ah, that makes so much sense!!! Thanks Sweet Loretta!!!
The color I really wanted to use was just a white pixie dust...super fine, I guess I will just stick with the cosmetic grade glitters sold here at FPFshop, since I already know they look awesome! Just thought if I could add some already "free" glitter to my kit it would be nice!

If i remember what i read correctly, there was also the difference between the tiny little glitters having sharper edges on the non cosmetic ones. the cosmetic ones are more rounded so they don't poke.
A microscopic poke in the eye still hurts and does damage
