I am going on holiday in Srilanka very hot and humid country and wanted to take some of my kit with me to practise. Do you know if is there anything restricted by the customs? affraid And any other advice on the paint that could be taken in the heat would be really appreciated too!!

Thank you cheers

When I have travelled with my oil colors, I have strenuously avoided the word, "PAINT". The word 'paint' is on a no-fly list for planes. I have called it 'color suspended in vegetable oil.'

I would call your face paint...
face makeup, or face colors.

I would take a small Wolfe or DF/X appetizer palette with me. Do not try to take rainbow cakes, as in the heat, they can all melt together. In the heat and humidity ...any paint can turn into goo.

Happy Holiday's

The rainbow cake can all melt together in one big bloppy blurppy blob. Even though there is no such words as bloppy blurppy. I was just trying to protect your investment.

I did not paint my daughter's front.

This took 25-30 minutes to paint.

Lisa, I think I said it elsewhere....but in case I didn't, I love the painting you did on your daughter. It is downright Beautiful! so feminine and so 'real'! I aspire to paint like you one day, and that corset would be the ultimate. And to do it in 25-30 minutes Shocked WOW!
I have sooooo many years to catch up to your experience...in the meantime I keep practicing study Maybe I'll have it down when I'm 75 Laughing hope my hands don't shake too badly by then Laughing
Paola, I asked about how your paint fared (in the heat) on another thread, because I remembered you asking this...glad I found this thread again. (We might get to go somewhere warm for our anniversary, so I know now not to take rainbow cakes thanks to Lisa!)

I would take a 32g of each of the following:
TAG Neon Magenta
TAG Neon Yellow
Tag Neon Blue
Cut them apart & create a Carnival rainbow cake when I arrived, and splice them back in their original cases before I departed.

When I began painting in 1998, I didn't know there were face painting Masters to aspire to. I discovered this Forum about two years ago, and lurked for a while before I joined. I learned more from this Forum than I did in ten years of painting on my own. I took on three apprentices just over two years ago. They learned faster than I did. I feel having painters to aspire to work towards helps me so very much. I took a class with Lynn McKay, and met some local painters to jam with, and split face paint orders with...(Helloooo Barb Rugaberg "Rugabug" and Jessica "Face Painting by Jessica")

I practice all the time. I am addicted to face painting. It feels so safe to say that on this Forum.

Welcome to my happy little world of face painting addiction.

Thank you for the idea, Lisa! I was wondering, if I took a split cake in my carry on if it would be 'safe' from melting? I never cut any before Shocked ooooo! that makes me nervous, but someday I must take the plunge! affraid With Metina's EVIL 15% off sale!!! maybe I can get some 'extras' to hack into!
It's so nice you've gotten to jam with people; that would be so much fun!
Are you hiring any new apprentices Wink Wink Wink

Wow Lisa 25-30 minutes is great!!! The details looks fenomenal i love them!!
Wish i was living close to you Lisa! I would apply to be your apprenter any time! I loved your tiger too!! I tried to do those realistic lines they are not easy at all!
Thank you again, that was a superfast response you gave me and i really appreciated it!

Val sorry only read this now after writing a long explanation on the show and tell. Hopefully somebody else will need it!
Splitting cakes you can find a good explanation on you tube Lisa Joy Young is great and clear. I found difficulties in cutting metallic paint as they are softer they do not retain their shapes once you try to lift them from their shells. I was thinking to stick them in the freezer for a little bit not sure if anybody else did it already? Will definetly try to work on it in this coming year. Very Happy is so much fun to put together colors of your choice! Very Happy

I've taken splits and one strokes to Indonesia and never had any problems. Have also taken a small Wolfe pallet one time. I usually paint at an orphanage for handicapped children while I'm there. I usually go to Indonesia once a year. It's a tropical humid climate too. I live in a similar climate for half the year the rest of the time it is hot and very dry.

They were TAG ones. TAG is like DFX or Wolfe. Australian. I brought them in one of the laptop style cases. I one I got I think was custom made as the splits were in the round containers but the ones I've seen lately have been in the rectangle containers. I just buy the two colours now and cut them in half which then gives me a spare and I put other in the case.
