Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
Had an awesome time last Friday Body painting with Dutch, Brecky, Kristal and I. A few other artists were going to come but had to cancel last minute.
Kristal did a cool corset with dripping glitter in rainbow colours and I did my first black light body paint. I'll let Kristal post her own photos Mine are under another post under a 'What I learned about blacklight body painting' title.
Brecky did a cool UV 'ribbon' body paint. If you have 3D glasses it really 'pops' from the special paints she used.
Dutch of course was amazing! He thought he could get 3 bodies done, but he took his time on the first one and the second model was a first timer and moved quite a lot.
Here's his vintage/borg army gal...check out the scrapes and bullet holes...cool stuff!
Here's his squirmy alien:

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
Oh fabulous! Those are great! BC is only about 3 hours for me... ;-)
Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
But Doe,
Here in Canada,
we are metric.
Our clocks only have 10 hours.
Each hour has 100 minutes.
Three Imperial hours would be...
3, carry the 4 x 1.613 x how many kilometres you are travelling, and if a train leaves Geneva at 8pm going 40k/hr, and another train leaves Grande Prairie at 9:72 metric time,
the answer is 5.8.
xoxo

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
He wants to have a jam again, so we probably will. I'll see if I can get the same location again. It'll be perfect in the summer time...they have 3 gazebos and beautiful grounds for photos. It's fairly secluded so it's nice and private for the models.
I need to get some info on starting a guild I think.

We need to plan a trip down to visit my sister in Surrey... maybe we can try to time it around the jam?

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
When are you thinking?
I'll be doing a glamour/glitter shoot during Christmas break. Dutch says he could make it the Mon, Tues or Wed. I haven't checked the venue yet.
I'm getting to know several models now too.
Travel in winter is crappy your way Shannon, but it's usually pretty good here if you're thinking of Christmas with your sister, we'd love to see you! It'd be awesome to finally meet you in person Shannon!

I was thinking next summer at the earliest I won't even take gigs two hours from me in the winter due to driving/weather conditions!

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
They don't call us 'Crazy Canadians' for no reason - we 'make' our fun wherever we go
I'm a born and raised Burnaby girl, Valerie I can't relate at all Shannon. I've never bought snow tires and can't remember the last time I wore my winter boots (probably back in '94 when I lived in Norway). We'll schedule something when the weather gets better for ya Shannon

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
I've traveled over most of Canada and just love Canada and Canadians!
And I am FILLED with ENVY over your empty ice cream containers!! I've never seen those plastic ones here (I'm not a big ice cream eater, so if they exist here I'm unaware...but haven't seen them in the stores I've ever shopped.)
My girlfriend in Burnaby (she's from Vancouver itself, and lived in Coquilam last I got to visit) used to save them for me when I had a soap and body products business and I'd put the dried herbs I grew in them.
Then I read about Fesspender using them for her sponges (?) and I wish I had saved some.

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
Yeah, they're great for sponges I pack one full of clean, and then an empty one to throw the used ones in as I'm working. Makes it easier to pack up and run at the end.
Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
Dear Valerie A:
This is what I use for tossing my used sponges into. This is a collapsible water bucket from Canadian Tire. I fill it about 1/3 full of water and I hang it from the water dispenser hook on my camp kitchen for long events, or, for shorter events, I have a "purse hook" my husband bought for me in Paris. I hang the handle of the bucket to the purse hook, and suspend it from my table.

I carry my clean sponges in a black lingerie bag. My director's chair has a black bag that suspends from over the arm of the chair.

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
This is the bucket I use....(I wrapped it in red duct tape to cover the wording)... As you can see, the lid is divided and one side flips up. I toss my sponges in there.
I always carry this because;
1) It holds a full screw-top gallon jug of clean water AND my water bin.
2) I take the water jug and the bin out when I set up and it becomes my "trash" can.
3) I can easily change my water by dumping the dirty water into it...don't even have to get out of my seat.
4) At the end of an event, I don't have to worry about dumping my water... I dump it right into the bucket and close the lid and can transport it in my van without worrying about spilling.
5) I also put the gallon jug back in on top of the dirty sponges & water and then, at an angle, I can still fit my empty water bin that holds my dirty brushes.
I use a larger version one these bags for my sponges... keeps them clean and it can scrinch up real small to fit into Maxine.

opps...maybe it was Magna that I read that about in some thread. Whoever it was, it got me missing my empty Canadian ice cream containers!
But now you've got me wanting a French purse hook!

Re: Bodypainting Jam with Dutch!
Dear Valerie A:
Do you need any help eating the ice cream? I will gladly volunteer my services.
I was afraid to use that purse hook and I carried another one that my middle daughter gave me for Christmas four years ago. I finally started using the one from Paris, because otherwise it would have sat in a drawer.
I think the point is this... Go to Paris to buy your own purse hook. And, then, eat some buckets of Canadian ice cream with me!

I think you have a Great idea there on how to get my own Parisian purse hook! and I'll tell my husband you said so!
As for ice cream eating, you are welcome to all of my share...ice cream is not my weakness...my weakness has to be something totally unhealthy like salty snacks!
But empty potato chip bags are pretty worthless for storing my sponges...so ice cream it is!
