Patriotic Splits
Right, so I've gone and bought a pearl red/pearl white/pearl blue one stroke cake. I am not too fond of the pearls though and am considering buying the regular red/white/royal blue version. Does anybody have any advice? Which is better? Would I just be wasting money? And if someone has a red/white/royal blue cake - do you like the royal blue? Does anyone have one with DARK blue instead of royal? Do you prefer it? OK, too many questions, but you get what I need - HELP!

Re: Patriotic Splits
The reason that many people use the pearls for that split is cause regular red, white, and blue tend to blend more than the pearls and you don't get the color definition. It's been discussed in another thread but I can't remember which one. Maybe Denise can help. Think she was the one who discovered that the pearls do better than the matte colors.

Re: Patriotic Splits
I bought the pearl too and don't like the blue..It is just too light. I haven't tried the regular, but if I were to order it again, I think I would not go with the pearl. I tend to not like pearls in splits....I like the intensity of the regular colors and use pearls for backgrounds. JMHO
Re: Patriotic Splits
I have a one stroke with light metallic blue and a dark metallic blue that I love ...what if you just split out the white and red & added some dark blue? You could throw another color in the red & white one (like green since we're in the Christmas season) and have two seasonally appropriate split cakes...
Re: Patriotic Splits
I did look around but couldn't find another thread about this in particular. Either way, I agree with you Smiletime - I also prefer the pearls for bases and backgrounds.
Before I attempt to hack away too viciously at my new and beautiful paints Anniel , I think I do need to find the correct red/white/blue combo - being in Holland, those colors will come in handy here too. If anyone has a combo with dark blue, I'd love to hear from you still...

I love the pearl blue for Captain America, though I doubt you have much call for that in Holland!

Re: Patriotic Splits
The Paradise Prisma Patriot Split Cake, while not pearl, is a nice size, a good price and has enough variation on the RWB colors to produce many looks and varied designs. Might be worth just picking one up.
Re: Patriotic Splits
I make my own but not with pearls the dk blue would look good. I like it in splits. metallic white i would probably not put in a USA spit only because i want the colors to b bold. if i found a true red metallic i would use it though along with the dk blue metallic. I do hate it when the colors blend on that cake so maybe metallic white would be better
lol now I want to go make a new one.
Well I want a new red metallic not pink 1st

I love this in flowersl!zzie wrote:I've got the plain version onestroke and I love it!
When i do it for a patriotic look I have to keep wiping it clean with a baby wipe each time to get it not to look pink
Re: Patriotic Splits
I have an Arty cake that's red, very very light blue, light blue, and dark blue (navy). Here's a photo of it on my arm (please excuse the shadow; it's very hard to take a picture of your arm with an iPad):

As you can see, the very very light blue looks white, but with none of the pink blurriness you'd get with real white. It's called Stars and Stripes.

Hey Lizzie, just for info, I recently mailed TAG and they confirmed for me that TAG is TAG and in no way affiliated with PartyXplosion or any other brand. Where did you hear that they were one and the same?

Re: Patriotic Splits
Phew... That's some time ago....
I read it on different pages and heard the paint came from the same factory.
But sorry, not anything specific that pops in my head now who told me that, it's been over a year a heard it, and my chemobrain finds it hard to remember things....
I'm sorry!
Can somebody else answer this question for me?

No worries Just curious, as according to their official website, they have only one retailer in Holland. And PartyXplosion is sold pretty much everywhere in this country - I just like to know what's what, that's all

Re: Patriotic Splits
I like the metallic/pearl white, but I wonder what it would look like with a matte red and matte blue on either side instead of pearl, with the pearl white in the middle? I think it was the pearl white that made the red not blend into pink quite as much. Anyone up for experimenting?
