Been away for a bit!!! Missed you guys! (warning: pic heavy!)
Hello Facepaint family!! Well the bridal season is over and it's finally slowed down a bit for me to get more painting in!!! Taught at a couple of conventions, looking forward to teaching at FABAIC ... even doing a henna pre-class!!!!!!! Very excited! I will share some new paint on the paint side, but thought I would share some of the summers more unusual henna!!
Based of a Japanese water painting
For a yoga teacher from London England at HennaCon in California
eye of protection (khamsa) aka: hand of fatima
One of my summer brides....didn't get as many shots this year...too many 'same old' designs to be really useful to my portfolio.
Fun back piece!
Can't wait to get back into the chat room, check out all our new 'family members' that have joined in the past months! Happy to be 'home' for awhile!!!!!!

these are so magically wonderful! I always wonder how the henna looks after the powder washes off - is this the case in the summer bride shop? the colours look more delicate.
thanks for sharing, grab a chair, a mug of coffee and join in again!

Thanks Mamakatrien! I even have my coffee in hand!! LOL Henna is a lovely and 'soft' color that can be oh so feminine and very natural and 'organic' looking on the skin. Brides have it done a couple of days in advance so it has time to mature. Here is a good example of the progression for you!

Had a dream about henna last night, my subconscious must of been reaching out to you! Beautiful work as always.

Gorgeous as always! Love the eye in the chamsa.
And oooo...pre-class at FABAIC. I REALLY want to go to FABAIC this year. At the same time though I also want to be able to afford my mortgage and currently it's a toss up between which major expense will be more important

I've seen some henna drawings on the hands of women coming back from a Morrocan wedding, they were dark like the hand on the right, but never so pretty or delicately feminin!
I had no idea the colour darkens like that over days! Does it take that long when you put it on your hair as well? This has sparked my curiousity about henna immensely...

Wow, I have never tried Henna- your designs are so lovely and intricate-Wow. I am curious to know how the flowers on the legs and arms are white? Did you paint them afterwards? beautiful

Thanks Misha!
@tamarielpaints - Been there, done that, understand the dilema! I try to think of the confrences as an investment in myself, my artistic side getting rejuvinated and inspired, an investment in my biz, and a great chance to network. BUT much like shopping wholesale, sometimes it takes money to save money and that 'investment' when there is nothing there, means you can't take advantage of the 'deal'. I remember one month there was a HUGE sale on something, and it would have been HALF PRICE...BUT....a lot of one thing and then not being able to afford milk...well I had to pass up on the savings. Am I rambling??? LOL Ah well...I think you get what I mean....I hear ya!!
@ mamakatrien - WHOLE long story with that. Some of that is pure sloppy work and a large number of ladies in many cultures all claiming to be experts but really not understanding the art, or the ingredients, or the methods or history. AND part of that is preference. Many of the ladies from that area prefer bold almost masculine looking patterns. It's what they are used to and so in thier minds that is prettier. It's a matter of preference. It's only "bad" when it's messy and sloppy or if you see it in black it's often toxic and illegal here in Canada and the USA and the banning of the substance (PPD) is becoming more widespread due to the lifechanging and horrid side effects of the additive. Real henna is very very safe. Put gasoline or PPD in it and it becomes a nightmare!
@veelux - that is 'zardozi', essentially it's put on after the paste is off the next day and will last for about 1 - 7 days. It's temptu or colorini and prosade/glitter!
