Face Paint Storage
I just had to share this cool storage thing I found for my odd array of paints. It's actually a cake/cupcake holder, but it works well for my purposes. I have an odd assortment of different brands and sizes of face paints, since I'm still a newbie. It was taking me forever when i would set up, because I'd have to get out each cake, line them up like I wanted them, then take the lid off each one. Anyhow, this cake holder cuts a lot of that time off. I used sticky velcro to attach the cakes to the pan's bottom, removable tray, and cover. There's enough room between all of this to fit my other palettes, too. So if there's anyone out there who needs a place to store their assortment of odd-shaped cakes, I suggest this pan. I got mine at Target for $9.99. The brand is Snapware. You can find a double carrier here...

This is a picture of it all boxed up, about the size of a cake pan.

Re: Face Paint Storage
I put my cakes in a white water color pallet - its compact and you can arrange them any way you like. The center large row holds 18ml and the others are more shallow which are easy to fill with rainbow colors. The pallet will probally fit in your cupcake carrier as it is 11x12" available at Michaels art & craft stores
and you can store other FP supplies beneath it ; )

Thanks Winger! I'll probably make something similar to yours once I figure out which brand I like for each color, but for now I'll just keep things separate.

Re: Face Paint Storage
I made the decision of which paints to use before I got the pallet - all snaz paints, only 6 are classic colors and the rest are electric, metalic and sparkling colors ; )
Re: Face Paint Storage
Awesome idea with the cupcake holder! Totally creative. I love finding things in other isles. Like how organizers are way cheaper if you look in the bait and tackle isle than in the crafty isle.
Re: Face Paint Storage
That is so true Jennifer...I now find myself looking at containers and thinking, how can I use this for face painting?

Looks great Lori! I love being organized! (With my paints anyway - my house is a whole 'nother matter!)
Re: Face Paint Storage
that is much like the cases I found at the office supply store, and the ones I have stack and snap together worried if it gets too heavy it won't stay snapped shut one day
Re: Face Paint Storage
what a great idea! I have a cupcake holder too but it is just a box deep enough for cupcakes with a handle basically. (i use it for other things too like watermelon, veggie trays, etc)

Re: Face Paint Storage
Winger, I went and purchased a small palette like you have from Michael's. I'm going to experiment with making some split cakes in it...just unsure of what color combinations I want. If you make one you don't like, how hard is it to take a color out and try something else?

Re: Face Paint Storage
that looks nice!!!!
I was crazy about the new arty cake palette but it's too expensive (even the empty palette...who in these days pay $25+shipping for an empty case?? Not me honey)! Here's a great alternative for it...
just love it

They aren't wedged in there either, they slide right out with one finger grab... It is a little rounded and pulls right up for quick use.

Re: Face Paint Storage
Lori, its not hard to switch out the paints at all. I just changed out the large pallet to two smaller ones to get two extra combinations and deeper wells, shown on the Professional FP Travel Bag topic.
If the paints are too soft, leave them in the frig to firm up, so a thin pallet knife carefully inserted around the color will pop them out nicely. My smaller boxes get changed out, too.
Suzy, Love your box and forwarded the link to another FP who has LOTS of ABCs like you do!
