ZOMBIE HELP! Empty ZOMBIE HELP!

Post by vinnie Thu Oct 18, 2012 10:51 am

Oh man, I tried out my zombie skills and I'm not liking how their turning out! Sad I'm so bummed. I swear, he looks a little clownish! Too much blood? What's the trick to a simple and great zombie? What makeup do you use for the pale skin? White seems to harsh. Any advice or examples would be so appreciated.

I think it looks awesome.
If your goal is less white than I would maybe use powders and buff some off. Or use a soft hand and gently swipe the make up rather than pat it on. Maybe blend in some of that brown?

You did a great job on that mouth, it's going in my inspiration file.

Thanks Caswell. I used one of the Wolfe's brothers image as inspiration.

I guess I want more of a flesh look, not white. Everytime I look at this it reminds me of a clown! Maybe the blood goes to high from the mouth. There's bits and pieces of it that I like but it just doesn't seem to pull together for me.

At first glance it didn't look clownish to me! But I'm having trouble with my zombies too and yours are FAR betterso I don't much to compare to!

I also think it looks good! Maybe a cool color like green or blue for the dead flesh instead of the warmer brown?

I think that looks great! Adding some light blue veins, and yellowing mottled stipple will give it a bit more rotty flsh look... but it looks awesome!

I guess we are our worst critic, but I did try another one last night and I think it's a little more realistic....I hope! I like the overall skin tone and the eyes, I could add the teeth I did on the first one. What do you all think?

I think the first one was a better effect. The second almost too subtle

I like the blood better on the second one...so just combine the two but honestly, they would both thrill a client. Instead of doing blood on the nose, just sink it in a bit at the bridge. When Nick did his on FABA he did blood spatters up but most of the thick blood went down the chin and down the neck.

I think you've done a fabulous job. I think you are right about the blood being too high making the clown effect, the teeth are cool.

Thanks you guys! Denise, I too like the blood on the second one Smile I do like the first one too, but I just need to use the same blood method I used for the second one. Feeling better about zombies now. I've got a group of 8 coming this Saturday!

I think a mix of the two would be great! The base on the second one is much more... I wanna say "realistic" lol but you get the idea... the blood effect on the second I like much better BUT I love the teeth/ripped jaw effect on the first one.... I am NO expert on how to make them but I love me some zombies... LOL

OOOH an I think a lil more contouring of the bone structure to make it seem a bit more 'sunken in' and you'll have it. Smile
