Halloween Cake!

OK. I wasn't going to post this, but can't help myself. Linda Adams asked me to make her a Halloween Cake and I have to post the picture. It has 20 grams of paint in it and I figured out the cost at around $10(This may go up or down with more testing and factoring in the cost of the container). I also told her that if she doesn't use it up, she can replace the violet with red and have a fall colors cake.

I am considering taking custom rainbow cake orders, but don't want to put it on the shop officially until I have tested, weighed, got feedback from users ect...A Christmas Cake is in the works. If anyone has any color combos they want to have made, I will consider all requests. At this point though it will be on you to be happy with the color combos as I can't test all the combos at this point and ruin new cakes. I will make them of DFX colors only and Snazaroo Colors only. At this point, I don't feel comfortable mixing colors.

isn't snazz too soft?

Soft for what? It works great in split cakes... most of mine (that I made for myself) are Snaz, with some Kryolan, Wolfe and a bit of Grimas...

I wouldn't say without testing some. I have some in some of my splits that I make/use and they do seem a bit softer, but know of many artists who only use Snaz and use loads of split cakes.

I make a tropical one using a mix of Snaz, DFX and Paradise(all scraps left over after a face paint butchering session). You bring up a good point. Maybe the "harder" paints keep the Snaz from all smooshing together?

I totally feel fine mixing the paint for myself to use, but not to retail. Too much to "discuss" then. Maybe when I get a little braver.

I don't like the snazz white in my split cakes -the krylon I thought worked better.When I did 4th of July I made a few small cases because I painted for 3 hours and the cakes started to get mushy. When I painted for a school BBQ! I used the Krylon and they lasted longer. I am new at making cakes and this is just my own observation.

Yeah, I wouldn't tend to want to mix brands if I were going to sell the split cakes... issues with batch control, brand warrantees, etc.

The colours within brands work differently too... but making them for yourself is totally personal choice.

I really don't have any issues with one being softer than the other or with Snaz white being a problem, but I don't have many cakes that have white in them - but those that do ARE Snaz. If there is a bit of colour leeching it isn't an issue as the point of the split cake is to blend the colours so it doesn't bother me.
