I am one of the only people I know who hates it.

What ever happened to romance and love.

It made me sad

You're not the only one Mana. I read a couple of excerpts from it and decided that if that's the drivel that has become the best selling book in the world, this is a very sad world. Maybe I'm a book snob. For me the biggest problem isn't actually the subject matter, it's just a really badly written book with a really unlikeable protagonist!

oops... /puts soapbox back in wardrobe

I will tell you what I think....and then I will regret it. LOL I am writing two different stories at the moment, so I won't read anything. My girlfriends are all having wine parties and everything and I won't join. LOL It's sad really....

I've read all three, and I loved them! I think if you've only read excerpts or only read the first one you really can't judge the series. I'm a fan of the series as a whole. I can't wait till they make the movie, I just hope they cast Matt Bomer as Christian Grey.

I have finished the 1st book and didn't want to read the next 2.. but was told its more romantic/love story (if it can be!) in the next 2 books. So I am going to read the next 2 and then form my opinion. But at heart I am a true romantic and couldn't possibly associate with being in this scenario ... EVER, but a book its meant to be real life!

I've finished all three of them in 1 week Very Happy
And there is a lot of romance between the lines (and the sex), yes a lot more romance in book 2 and 3.... you'll miss it when you're finished Sad

@stacia, don't you think that she can wright all three from mr Grey's sight? I think that would be nice!

I haven't read any of them but if they are laid out much the same way as the sleeping beauty trilogy, then yeah you have to read them all.

With sleeping beauty the first book you spent the whole time in shock and possibly rage. Trying to wrap your head around what it is you are reading and "why isn't she ..."

Then the second book your first reaction senses start to mellow out which allows you to soak in and notice the details rather than just seeing the top layer.

Then it isn't until the last chapter of the last book that something clicks.. Ahhhh i get it.. very good books lol

Post by 521Diva Mon Sep 24, 2012 8:32 pm

Book 1 & 2 i finished in a day, book 3 took me 2 months LOL. Book 3 was a slow read for me.

I'm new to this site. I was a clown for about 10 years just doing my son and friends bday parties. I used to just the basic face paint nothing as beautiful as what u guys do, but i want to learn. I have a set of twin grandbabies 4 months old and i want to be able to do face painting at there bday parties. The clown came out of retirement this saturday after being in the basement for 10 years. It was my niece 10th bday and I soooo surprised her. Is there anything special I need, i see someone said something about a fish tail brush ( I think).

Thanking u all in advance, please help.

Haven't read them... have had them recommended to me... heard good/not so good things..

Of late (the last 10 years) I listen to audiobooks more and more. (was a huge book collector until we got our son... *smile*)... then, that, the garden, took the back burner.

One day, I was standing in line at the market.... listening to a "recommended" book that I hadn't reviewed beforehand... I was standing there, listening to the book, watching the scanner when suddenly there was a VERY explicit part being spoken into my ears....

whew....

I turned 50 shades of RED, and quickly glanced around to see if anyone could hear what I was listening too! laughing hard... reading the written word is one thing, listening to someone else read it.. is another.. especially when in a public place...

whew again...

(I'm mostly a thriller/crime/etc reader.... so, was very surprised to hear "her wrists bound to the post with silk, Damien s.l.o.w.l.y. thrust his massive _________ into the willing ______ of Sabine)

*cough*

I'm by no means a prude.. but, I'd rather live it than read it.

I'm into VC Andrews, Anne Rice, Sylvia Plath and so on...

I read 50 shades. I'm obsessed. I liked it because it was funny, and this so called stuff is nothing near Sleeping beauty. But I have the Grey effect for sure.

I read all 3 over my summer vacation right after they came out.
I have to say i LOVED them and will prob read them again when i get time.
There's more in there than just the S&M stuff.
There's actually a wonderful love story about how two people from totally opposite views love each other enough to meet in the middle and become extremely happy!

I loved the first two, the third was disapointing... And there's a story behind it all, it gives an insight in Christian's psyche... there's a good amount of humour in there as well

All in all it was a fun read, but not one of my 'keepers'.
I have a massive amount of books stacked up, so have been forced by my 'boyfriend' (can you still call him a boyfriend after 10 years?) to start selecting the keepers, and giving the rest away to my sister ...

Ok I am 3/4 of the way through book 2 and I have had enough. I generally skip over the sex at this post,, sigh ,, again omg. I like the story but theres too much sex and its the same over and over. So I am not going to finish the series, disappointed as the story was quite good. Theres my 2 cents Happy reading all lol!

I'm on the second book. If you can get past the "porn" it's turning out to be an interesting story.
