TAG White turned to goop... Empty TAG White turned to goop...

Post by Face Painting by Jessica Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:40 pm

My TAG white has been a big blob of goopy slime lately. It's gross, and it feels awful on the face. What can I do? I tried freezing it, airing it out, more water, less water... it's still goop.

Please help me, there's probably a good 45 grams of paint that I would hate to throw out...

I had this happen with a wolfe neon magenta and a TAG orange. I bought them, they felt fine, and then they turned to mush after transferring chunks to a new container (an old TAG container, so it's not a plastics issue). One has firmed up since, the other hasn't completely - it's very strange. I almost took a video of me poking at the oozy slime to submit to the forum for help!

Yeah, it turns to marshmallow fluff when it gets too wet and doesn't have the chance to dry out. Leave it out with the top off for several days and it will dry up.

I don't cover my paints, so in my case, that's not what happened. These turned to slime after I transferred them and before I used them.

My Wolfe white did the same thing when I scraped the sides & pressed to the bottom of the container. I had a boy tell me this week it looked like sour cream! lol! I also store with the lid off.

I have learned to paint with gloop. It is the heat and humidity. I refrigerate my paint over night in my fridge in their jewelry trays. I tenderly place it into the top of my FatMax with a frozen lunch cooler thingy, and Voila! I have good paint for about 20 minutes, until the heat gets to it again. I have been putting the tray on top of a frozen cooler thingy. It does not last long. I have been trying to NOT wet the Wolfe, just the brush. It is still gloop. Ask me again in September, when the weather is cooler and dryer.

Got any silica crystals? I have a big tub that I use for drying flowers. Had a paint go gloppy on me once but a few days sitting on top of the silica in the closed tub made it happy again. I blamed it on too much water and have since learned to be a moisture minimalist.
