Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
I have updated my business cards recently and I decided to print mini-cards with removal instructions. Mini-cards are the same width as normal business cards but half the height... and half the price. I give a handful to mom to send into the loot bags!

Janna -
I like your logo!
Something to consider for the future - you don't have a phone number on those cards....

Thanks!! Yep, I decided to leave it off of the mini-cards. I have a lot more info on my actual business cards. And I much prefer to take bookings through my website...

I think there could be more problems if you don't put instructions on how to remove. If the paint stains the childs fair skin and they can't get it off, you just lost a future customer.
We live in a litigious society. He's worried about the possibility of me being sued because someone is using baby shampoo or lotion to remove makeup instead of to wash a baby or moisturize the skin. He's not worried about me losing business, so much as us losing our house.

? The baby shampoo is meant to be used all over the body. Even the older kids soaps are for both the hair and body.
The lotion IS to moisturize the skin It helps with removal if the skin is moist, not dry and flakey.

Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
I think you're missing my point.
I'm not saying we shouldn't give instructions. I'm not saying those things shouldn't be used to remove the makeup. I'm saying people have been sued for less. I'm not really worried about it, I'm wondering if anyone else has thought of it or worried about it or put a disclaimer on there. My business is a sole proprietorship, so my husband is in effect my business partner. If he is worried about us getting sued and losing all of our belongings, I think I owe it to him to look into the possibility or concern as far as the rest of the face painting community is concerned.
Obviously you have not worried or though about it, so I'll take that into account. How about anyone else?

Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
I have a question...WHY is it not recommended to sleep in face paint? My grandkids do, and a few clients, with never any reaction. Can you help me out here?
Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
Then this is a completely different topic? Even if you put a disclaimer on your biz card saying you are not responsible for a reaction, they can still sue you. Heck, anyone can sue over the dumbest thing. If you have insurance, then that will help.
I took business law in college and you can sue or get sued for anything really. It's up to the judge or lawyers if it goes that far. You can be liable even if you put a sign in a store saying you aren't. That sign might lessen the money, but you will still be somewhat liable.
There are threads on here talking about insurance so that's probably what you are looking for. you get the insurance incase some kid/adult trips over your kit or your tent flies away and hits a person

Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
I already have insurance. Not what I was talking about, but thank you.
Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
I think instructions to gently remove using mild soaps and lotions are pretty explanatory. telling someone NOT to scrub, especially when they have glitter on their face, should be a given. we aren't promoting use of specific products. by saying "mild" soap, I think we infer they should use a product they already use to wash their face. If it's a child, use what they usually use, which should be a MILD soap such as ivory or a baby product. hopefully they aren't using some harsh deodorant type soap to clean faces. In addition to my card directions, I always tell the parent to hold the wet cloth over the painted area and let the paint soften and melt first, then add soap to the rag and gently remove.

I can think of two reasons It can stain the face and the pillow/sheets/blanket. The longer the paint is on the face, the longer it can seep into the skin and stain more. Although, I've had my face painted for at least 8 hours at a time and it washes off just as easily for me.
If the child has a mild allergy, they may have a reaction if the ingredients are on the face longer.
You shouldn't wear makeup to bed becuase it's not healthy for the skin, but a lot of us do So a guess that's a lot of the same reasons, both are cosmetics.

Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
FFAZ - I totally get what you are saying, but like CottonKandyClown said people who would sue for anything could sue you for NOT giving instructions. As a business we are at risk of being sued, disclaimers or not. I think most of us offer instructions as a courtesy, (and because we don’t want to have to repeat it when asked) but if you or your husband feel uncomfortable with it, simply don’t offer it.
Maybe instead of giving “instructions” - it could be worded differently - like saying “I prefer to”, etc.
I’m sure most of us have thought of the “possibility” of being sued for anything that we do, not just offering washing instructions. Anyone working with the public, especially children knows it’s a possibility but it’s a risk we are willing to take to do what we love.

Re: Examples of business card removal instructions
This thread helped me out a ton! Thanks everyone for sharing! I am working on a new card and I like the idea of putting the instructions on the back.
