Name painting? Empty Name painting?

I know its not face painting, but I have been trying to find information about it. If you have been to a big city where there is street vendors, you may have seen this. It is where they paint someones name using one stroke techniques making up pictures.

Does anyone know where this can be learned or what types of paints and brushes to use?

There are a bunch of YouTube vids about it as well as someone selling a "homemade" instructional book. Kinda fascinating to watch.

They have it in a lot of the major parks too - "letter brush art." I tried it a few times and couldn't get the hang of it (figures, I'm awful at one-stroke too!) but it looks awesome. All I know is that in the parks, they make their brushes out of (I think?) leather of some kind, they look like short flat brushes but with no bristles, just fabric.

I'd love to try that down an arm, but I don't know that you'd recognize them as letters if they weren't horizontal... except for the K and the E.

I've got a couple of books and all the supplies. Just haven't got around to it... meant to make some for friend's newborn who turned 4 two months ago... ROTF

I don't really like the examples in the books I have so I was making up my own letters.

As with everything - practise practise practise

I know what you mean, Shannon. I have a half dozen incompleted projects around at the moment. I'm a magpie, always looking at the next shiny thing.
