Dear Newbie.
Please use the search above and type in paints, kits or whatever else you have questions about. There is loads of threads about what paint, what brushes, what sponges, one strokes, line work. Etc. all the info is there just takes some time to read thru. Happy painting and welcome to the forum.

I would say invest in a few rainbow cakes and a few one stroke split cakes.
The Tag pearl rainbow is probably one I use the most (for rainbow butterflies, rainbows across the forehead, rainbow tiger or cat...)
The Tag tiger split cake also comes in handy for doing any type of feline fast.

I like the mehron prisma cake "Fleur" for making flowers, roses and leaves. It has red and pink and white on one side and different hues of greens on the other side.

I use the tag one stroke "Snake" a lot for snakes and lizards, and frogs and leaves

I also use the tag ocean a lot for dolphins, sharks, mermaids, birds and water designs.

The first set I ever bought was the Mehron Paradise 30 color sample pallet. I found it great for giving you a variety of all the colors you would use contained in a professional case.

Also I am noticing that Tag (and probably other companies as well) are making splits that can be used as combos... Like Teddy/ Bird... where half is blues and the other half browns. And they also have splits with two colors.
I like this idea... that way you get two different choices in one cake.

I like the poof glitter in holographic white (it is the only color glitter I use and goes with everything)

Also gold and silver glitter gel.

Sponges, and a few nice wide brushes 3/4 inch or so to use with your split cakes.

Hope this helps... I just placed a new order of supplies so it is fresh in my mind what I use the most!

Wolfe white & black... TAG/DFX neon rainbow cake... TAG regular rainbow one-stroke (awesome for princess faces). I also love having a shimmery pearl white for smooth blended tiger eyes. And a white iridescent fairy dust poofer - goes with everything!

These are a few of my favourite things... Wink
