My first bodypaint!!
I'm so excited 'cause yesterday I painted my very first bodypaint! And oh jeez was that a learning experience!
1: a drawing of a bodypaint on paper is NOT the same as mapping it out on the real deal - things ARE bigger and curvier than you expected
2: when said drawing doesn't cover as much as you planned you are going to spend a lot of extra time adding and adding and adding to fill up the empty spaces.
3: it helps to have a strategy going chest - arms - back - legs - face. Putting legs before the back will mean that the model won't be able to sit comfortly here on after in fear of smearing the paint and she will get tired quickly!
4: remember that the panties are close to impossible to paint if they're black cotton!!! It will ruin the photos!! Yay for photoshop! (see picture #2 = no panties )
I guess just as facepainting this is a learning curve and I can't wait for my next bodypaint!
Here's a couple of pictures - the rest you can see on my facebook page
Enjoy!!

Re: My first bodypaint!!
Thanks! Critique, comments or experiences with everyone's first bodypaint is appreciated
Re: My first bodypaint!!
Very impressive and I love the pictures on Facebook of work in progress. Even used your new BAM stencils I see! Did you use anything different (like a Kabuki brush for the base) from your regular face paint technique?

Looks great! No critique at all... just a pointer- When painting, especially for pictures, the less fabric the better- and Lycra will cover better than cotton. This is really really lovely!
Re: My first bodypaint!!
shellig: just regular sponge and brush - would a Kabuki speed things up? Haven't tried them yet. And yes I used the "paisley" stencil a little bit
Katurah: awwww thanks
leapinglizards: Lycra - got it!

I love your style Rantzau..you have flair and talent to boot...Love watching your posts...and the Kabuki is a body paints dream...great for blending also,,kinda airbrushed look...Cant wait to see your next one.
Re: My first bodypaint!!
beautiful..and i learn from each bodypaint i do...I've only done bodypaintings in competitions...I make a time plan..I start with the chest, then the face so the photographers have something nice and completed to shoot...then the back, then arms and last the legs....should i run out of time i leave the details out on the arms and legs and just blend colours with... indeed...a buki brush..it saves a lot of time!
Re: My first bodypaint!!
I also make a drawing, but the body isn't quite the same as a flat drawing..so I improvise a little every time...
Re: My first bodypaint!!
Wow I gotta go get a Kabuki! Found a video on the forum's youtube channel - I must say that looks like a timesaver!
