Help! Word board
Shawna d has posted here or on face book a word board idea. I was wanting one for a charity event so I can add and subtract details as needed. Did anyone happen to stick it in their inspiration folder?

Re: Help! Word board
I don't use it often because pictures are MUCH better advertising to pull people in, but when necessary, it works
Re: Help! Word board
I like having photos too, but I never get to "try something new" or change things up from the photo because most kids will POINT IT OUT if I deviate from what I have on the menu board. Guess there are pros and cons to any system.

Re: Help! Word board
That is an awesome board!! I've never tried a word board but I love the idea of slightly illustrated words. If I need to prepare for TONS of kids I tend to display my quick designs in their simplest form. Then when I do have time, I embellish them. In the end the kids either get exactly what they imagined it would be, or better, so it's a win-win!

Re: Help! Word board
I have had a hard time using word boards because I often paint young children. They will get to my seat and I ask what design they chose. They get all huffy ans say " I don't know, I can't read!" I prefer word boards though, because each design is unique and the kids can't say, "That doesn't look like the picture!"
Re: Help! Word board
I did a word board I can switch around per occasion by using a magnetic bulletin board from IKEA (about $10) and did words that I laminated (various colors, shading, etc. but the same basic text) and then stuck a little bit of magnetic tape (sold in office supply stores) on the back of each.
I can hang it by bungee cord onto the canopy when I work, or put it on an easel.
I did prices for PPF, Henna, Balloons, etc. It has been so good, I can put up what I like--which is nice when working with other artists. (Also, if you are a pushover on pricing, like me, having it in print really helps me hold the line--nobody asks for discounts, it's "official".)

Wow, this word menu is exactly what I am looking to make for me. I don't like using pictures; a word menu is perfect for me because it gives me the opportunity to add or subtract to the design depending on time, age, etc... How did you create this menu? What program did you use? Soooooo pretty....just what I was looking for!!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!
