Spelling Technicality - One Word or Two? Empty Spelling Technicality - One Word or Two?

Post by Bee Happy Design Tue Jul 17, 2012 9:43 am

I am putting together the graphics for my banner, cards, website, etc. I've always spelled it as "Facepainting" but I have come to realize that may not be correct. Google corrects it for me to Face painting (two words). I want my stuff to be right (I'm a stickler for english spelling and grammar and of course I want to look professional). Which do you think is right? confused

Oh, shoot!
Does this mean that I should be
fess penter instead of fesspenter?

I don't think I like that...
des fess in French means
"butt" or "behind" or something like that.

But what about the illusive "face-painting" with the hyphen between the two words?

Damn... That does sound nice. If I knew I could get away with it, that's what I'd put on my business cards. Probably not a good idea for a little rural town like this one...

LOL! I don't think either of those would work with my name - Bee Happy Faces. I was trying to be all sophisticated like that, but I'm just not. I think two words is actually the way to go. I even googled it with the hyphen and saw nothing with hypens. I don't like the hyphen anyway. I don't know how that's supposed to be used in english but I just don't think it looks right.

Perry, you are too funny!! Well, I guess a cheek is a cheek, be it on the butt or face, right? I guess I've always done it as two words on my printed materials. But for whatever reason it doesn't stop so many kids from calling it "paint facing!" (anyone else encounter that one?)
