Found stolen pics (daizy for sure i think!)

I don't know if this is a big deal or not to you guys, but it bothered me since this person has ads in and around my general area

It really bothers me when artists steal pictures of painter's children. That is Daizy/Christy for sure. The purple butterfly might be a Lynne Jaimeson...very clean and beautiful.

Yeah, I bet the spiderman and kitty are the only ones that are her. The others are a better quality. Sigh. People......

I have only been ripped off once.
A Brantford face paint ripoff artist had my daughter, Darcy's face on her website. I felt outraged that my child was advertising another artist. (Especially when I tortured Darcy in order to create the butterfly on her face. How could someone else get to use her face, without any torture, or effort, or paint.)

yeah, the spidey and kitty look more like my own work which is why mine doesn't get stolen but at least I only use my own pics for advertizing so people know what they are paying for and don't have any unreal expectations (I couldn't imagine going to a job and having someone expect daizy designs quality work, I can't compare to that!! lol)...

Yep.. that green eye design from the Snaz website. In my inpiration file. Try as I may I can NOT recreate it! Maybe I should just post the picture on my site too.. since I like it so much.

That's 20 minutes from my home and that pricing is why I lose most of my gigs that call! grrr!

i might be inspired by other people's designs, but how hard is it to paint a similar design or the same design in different colors for your ads?? at least give props to the artist you stole it from, jeeze. I would never steal a direct picture from someone else, bad juju. lol. and if you CANT paint it, you shouldnt advertise that you can.

Ok, I called and let her know that it is a faux pas to post other artists' work as your own. She didn't seem phased and tried to brush it off as 'showing how it's done'.

I started by asking if she'd like to be informed when workshops for professionals were in town and she replied with the fact that people ask her for lessons and she has her own students and there's nothing she needs to learn! Wow! Great to have that kind of confidence and still have the nerve to post other people's work!

report it to craigslist and get her add pulled then.

I've reported copyright theft to Craigslist and Gigmasters and they always remove the photos.

well, I'm glad there are things that can be done...I flagged both kijiji (uh, her post was right above MINE, lol) and CL ads but other than that I didn't feel like there was much I could do.

I hope she takes the pics off her website as well, I can't compete with anyone with pictures like that AND charging less than me lol

Booo! I have actually attempted to do the one stolen from Daisy! Still not as good as hers.

That is not fair, bounce castle for $50 hour!!!! I am glad she is not in my area we can compete against the face painting quality but not against that price for the bounce house, sometimes kids love more to bouncing that a face painting.

I'm glad you're on it Daizy! It's not my work so it just comes across as sour grapes if I do anything more than I have.

What ticks me off most was her attitude when I spoke directly with her. I'm glad I've found out about her complete lack of integrity so I can make sure I don't recommend her ever! I give away A LOT of work to local artists and am well known in the event industry here. She won't be getting a listing on my local event planning website www.wedresources.ca that's for sure. I believe in karma

ok Michelle I found one that is kind of stolen ish of yours, I say that ish part as she has said none of the work is hers on that page, it is marked as inspiration and she is happy to take down any artist who dosn't want there picture on there... it is the Tyler belly paint you have in your album click acoss a few times.

So people what are the rules and people's feelings in regards to this?

My point of view is... they have still taken those photos WITHOUT permission of the owner. Most copyright notices say photos cannot be used, copied, published or otherwise shared without permission of the owner... so, even posting them saying these are for inspiration in a publicly visible format is illegal.

If I find out my photos are being used in that manner I send them a notice to remove them as they do not have my permission to use my property.

People have asked me in the past to use a specific photo for a specific purpose and I have (yes, I really did) given written permission and even provided a suitable file for them to print.

I do not understand why an artiist would want to post an album or gallery of work that is BETTER than theirs even if they call it "inspiration"...??? It is a completely different thing to save or print a copy to look at and use for inspiration, but to post it for public viewing? Why?
