Is it appropriate to call yourself the best?

I live in a very small town and I know for a fact that there are no other facepainters (Only craft face painters )

so I was thinking of putting, "Georgetown's finest Face Painting" on my site/kijiji ads... Is that inappropriate?

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. I live in a small city in Ontario too, and I'm about 99% confident that I am the best quality face painter in town. I would feel kind of weird to say that on any advertising - and I feel it might piss off some of the other face painters if they heard about it. So for now I'm happy to proudly display my photos on my ads, and let the public make their choice!

Hmmm... maybe I should contact Readers Choice about a Face Painting category lol

If any of your clients called you "the best they've ever seen" then, yes, call yourself the best.

Quote testimonials like movies do - "stunning" "amazing" "a must see"....

It's marketing, of course you can call yourself the best, premiere, etc! There are several painters in my town who give themselves that title, lol. It's not about whether or not it's true (because they can't all be the best, right?), it's about advertising.

Good Idea! I've had people tell me my face painting was the best they've seen, but I never thought to use it. Of, course they've never seen the awesome work many of you do...it blows mine away.

Haha I know! I feel kinda weird saying I'm any good at all... But people around here are used to face paint crayons

You can say whatever you like and if you are comfortable with it, then go for it.

I personally, don't like the word "best" ... there are a few people in my area that call themselves the "best" this or that tout their award as #1 (which happens to be from 5 yrs ago, but who cares?)... I don't consider myself to be the "best" anything.... it would leave me no room for improvement and I feel that in one respect or another, there is always someone better at something. I don't feel like setting anyone the challenge to dethrone me from my own stack of turtles.

I always think that "best sounds a little arrogant--but "finest" is a bit classier.

A painter here in town has the biz name "The Best Face Painter" including the web address. What ever gets you noticed.
