Slow night, but a good one... (Pictures!)
Tonight was a slow night at the waterpark. It was one of those nights where the kids could totally talk me into whatever design they wanted and I got to take a lot of time on my own face paint.
Started off with a simple flower on my hand.
Then I painted my face while I waited on families. I was feelin' a tiger tonight, so I did a much more involved version of the one that's offered on my board.
Then I did this little girl as a "panther" (even though I'm fairly sure she meant "leopard", what with the "yellow with spots" request).
And then I had a boy that requested a "blue koi fish" and I was magically inspired to do one of those fish that connects to his lips. I'm so proud of it! I'd never done a design like that before! He loved it and he had a blast watching himself/the fish talk in the mirror.
And finally, just for fun, I tracked down a picture from two years ago of the first time I ever painted my own face. It just so happened it was a tiger. Oh, how things have changed!
Thanks for taking a peek, everyone!

Definitely. I even had time to actually hand people my card and tell them about my business. Good stuff.

You face paint in a water park? The kids and your designs, don't get wet? I face paint at a local farmers market that happens to be next to a water feature. I feel for the parents who paid to have their kids painted because they insisted they were done running through the water, only to see them a little later, dripping wet, with only hints of the original color still on their faces.

I love days like that, when Ihave the time to get some details in, and (for once) haven't forgotten my camera....

Kimi, I do paint at a waterpark, but I do it for free and I'm paid hourly. I do it from 6-9 during our family fun nights, so a lot of the time, families have already showered and changed and are coming out to listen to the music or get food. I do always give my disclaimer that it will come off in the water and you only get one design. Normally they go and swim for a little while longer. My line fills up quick right around 8.

Ahhhh! I get it. I was hoping there was a trick. I'm looking into offering glimmer tats which are semi-waterproof. Love all the great info I've found about it on the forum.

I tried to speak with someone at a fourth of July festival about their glitter tats and they were having none of it! I was like "So, how long do they last?" and they'd respond with something like "I don't know. Look it up." SO RUDE!
I finally said "Well, I'm a face painter and I just wanted to ask what you all use" and the assistant goes "Well, my wife does some face painting too. Have a great day." HOLY MOLY! Guess I'll go back to Google.

Some people are so threatened at the thought of losing business... too bad they don't consider it a way to spread their enthusiasm about their business or reassuring parents that their materials are safe. I bet if you had said "well I might have some jobs to pass on to you..." they'd have been all smiles. At least we have this forum

Yeah, you could share a booth together and save $$$, and send each other jobs when already booked. Anyway, forget google - the forum has a whole section on glitter. Start at the home page and scroll way down. There is sooo much information you'll be up half the night reading. People here are so generous about sharing their knowledge and what they learned the hard way! I love you guys! I'm glad I finally had the courage to register and post.

Oh absolutely! I asked for a business card when it was all said and done and they either didn't have them or wouldn't give me one. Not quite sure I would want to work with people like that anyways.
So glad I have this forum. You all are so great and supportive and have taught me so much!
