Starblend ideas! Empty Starblend ideas!

Post by Lacey's Faces Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:37 pm

I just got my Starblends in, First time i'm ever using it and i love it. My son likes how it feels, so much lighter on the face in the heat.
I received white,black,red and pink

My question is do any of you have any nice designs that use starblends? I already put a dalmatian on my daughter and spider man on my son. I figured i could do a cool full face skull.

I do my Kitty Cat in pink and white and my spidey with red and white starblends =), you could do a pirate also with the colors you've got. I have two more colors than you, yellow and orange, to do my tiger with on hot days.

How do you get the white to show up more white??

Hmm i'll have to work on getting a yellow and orange. are they nice and vibrant like the paint would be or a bit more muted?

Oh my goodness don't get me started!!! I'm using almost all Starblends for Animals and most of my boy designs. Here's a link to my Facebook folder where I put the more complicated designs. If you can't see it, write me a little note and Friend me:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4010097413490.172380.1312867240&type=3&l=977143d543

And here's my boards I just recently created. All the animal board is Starblend based. I'll attach the boy board where all but the one-stroke & tattoo designs are based in Starblend. On the girl board the bee mask, hello kitty, minnie, rose bud princess crown & skull bow are based with Starblends. And last but not least....my favorite, a recent pink Kitty. I wish the were better girl colors out there. I should probably just get the purple, I'd probably still like it but I can use Ben Nye for girl designs.

What are you applying it with? I think that has a lot to do with how opaque it shows up.
The yellow and orange are pretty vibrant. The one color I've heard isn't so vibrant is purple, but I don't have it so I can't give my own review of it.

White is a pain in the butt, you can go over it a bit and that helps but luckily it photographs well. Usually I put white on first and put on a ton and then I can cover the drop off with the next color. I actually like it for skulls though, I like that texture that comes through.

Here's the paint version and the Starblends. I like the sheer look of Starblends:

Thanks. It's so quick too and so much easier to make even than the mask...I'll save that for birthdays. You just make an arch over the eyebrows and the upper wing is from hairline to hairline. You should have seen the reaction to the Angry Bird and so easy with Starblends.

Here's the angry bird. The design got better and better as the day went on. I learned to make the beak smaller so I could line it with a "v":

Here's a skull and zebra:

Here's some more angry birds but they are paint so I could sparkle them but you can see the smaller beak and the evolution:

Here's a cheetah. So cute. But I LOVED the blue jag on kids...

Dude, how awesome would that be? It might be work an email to their marketing division to let them know how you're really working the product and have had a significant impact on Starblend sales from people who take a leaf from your festival book....right? It never hurts to ask (or imply).

Yeah,I already mentioned that to the Mehron guy... got a chuckle out of him... but I don't think it's effecting their sales that significantly. However, they are happy that face painters have found a way to make Starblends work for us.

If they could make that Intense stuff in bigger cakes, then they would probably see even more face painters buying!

Load a lot and go back over it. I have a hard time on eyes because they are too sensitive to rub too much but on bony parts, go for it. Layer and rub.

Thanks for sharing your board Denise! How do you make it? Did you paint in with face paints? On what type of board? Sorry if you already answered it this in another thread.
