I currently use two wooden trays (with one-inch high sides). I stack them to carry them in/out. So all my paints are always flat and in place. The trays then double as a tabletop. It works well for me. You have to show a bit of extra care when moving them about.

Just a small consideration: You are still carrying wood over plastic for about the same price as something with the same capabilities & a lifetime guarantee as the wheeled Pelican case.

The Pelican is also waterproof if you get caught in a downpour event (as I am sure we all have on more than one occasion, your paints are water-tight.

No, I don't work for Pelican--I am just a very very satisfied customer!

anniel,
I am as new to all this as they come & looking for ideas that might work for me; Smile Absolutely love your ingenuity with the gun case! I'm a person who lives by the motto 'make do, or do without', (probably worried about if I'll EVER be able to save for kids' college funds - LOL!). So I foolishly thought re-purposing an old, collapsable, medical-device, cart a friend had, would suit my needs.
I don't hunt, but I bet I could find a few of these types of cases in my basement! Hope you wouldn't mind if I modeled one of my own in the future; it looks like it would be so easy to set up at a busy school fair.

(Tee, hee! & wink) ....now if only I could disguise it enough so my husband doesn't recognize it leaving the house!!

Thanks, again, for being so creative! Idea

Spray paint it pink (or purple or whatever) then while paint is still wet sprinkle liberally with lots of glitter! Or cover with gorgeous patterned duct tape and gems!

Just Don't let hubby catch you in the middle of it! Twisted Evil

Erica, Razz
I like your way of thinking!! The glitter would get kinda messy & probably fall off; not taking that chance!...so, duct tape it is! There are SO many nice choices these days; might take a lot to cover it, though...the empty one I found is almost as tall as my chin! (I'm not tall, but only slightly shorter than average.)

I can't believe I'm seriously considering this....even searching for a couple of tripods I know aren't being used at the moment .... Idea oh, what else can I grab for my crazy plan...better stay away from daughter's bedazzler!....ha, ha, ha, ha! Rolling Eyes

Update: My husband actually went and bought a nice new Pelican rifle case for me to use!!!....he says if he ever has to fly with it somewhere, I'll need to empty my painting stuff out.....I hope that will never come to pass. Besides, there are two nice spots where I can use my own LOCKS on the case, ahahaaaaa! Twisted Evil

THANKS, AGAIN, for the GREAT case IDEA!! (Still working out minor customization details-but, LOVE it!) Idea

Monna , I was going to pack my condensed kit in my suitcase but for fear of them losing my luggage, maybe I better pack it as a carry on. I am so scattered right now, hope I can get it together within 13 days!!!! affraid

Back to the topic, I have always considered ,or should I say wished for an Artist on the Go table but never made the plunge, maybe one day but I just don't think I need such a thing at the moment. I have grown so weary of taking a bunch of stuff to each job, I have my entire kit condensed down to fit inside the shoulder bag that Metina sells in the shop. Of course I'm not talking about for a festival though, but I don't think I need too much more even for that

Dear ValLovesKids:
You can put bling on your, um, I mean your hubby's, rifle case. He may not want to use it after it is all shiny, sparkly and glittery. This is the Face Painters' equivalency of marking your territory. It is a lot less smelly than peeing in it to mark your territory.
