Please pray for my sister-in-law. She had Lap Band Surgery today & is having a lot of complications (kidneys shut down & internal bleeding). She has several small children.

Pray for my Sister-in-Law Empty Re: Pray for my Sister-in-Law

Post by Guest Fri May 25, 2012 8:52 pm

This is the third person this year I have heard of in this situation... one has recovered after almost dying, one is in really bad shape right now and may be on dialysis tomorrow (at the age of 40) and now your sister in law.

This surgery should be banned. 60% is the complication rate/failure rate I've been told.

I hope she pulls through and recovers quickly.

I'm agreeing w/ you & didn't want her to do it. I didn't even know she was going through w/ it till I got the call today (she lives in NY).

I'll be praying for her! A friend of mine had it and while she didn't have any complications, it hasn't worked for her AT ALL. It's been almost 3 years now and she hasn't lost any weight. Then I have other friends that have done gastric bypass and have lost TOO much weight and can't gain or keep weight on. Scary stuff.

Praying for her Linda....I've been heavy most of my life, and I wouldn't do the surgery just because I'm okay with this size, (18), but I know that in desperate situations, sometimes you have no other choice when you're miserable. I can feel her pain of being overweight. I don't know how I feel about the whole surgery thing for others for this very reason. You never know what will happen. My mom had the surgery, and has gained back every pound of the 70 she lost. Sad Mad

She's doing much better. She ended up having blood clots in her lungs & needed a blood transfusion. I'm just praying she's able to do the things she has to do to recover & follow the restrictions.... Thank you for your prayers!

So glad to hear that she is doing better Linda. You do have a huge praise there as blood clots in lungs can be fatal.

I had knee surgery in Oct. 2007.... ended up shooting several blood clots to my lungs... SCARY!!!! If I hadn't called the ambulance when I did I wouldn't be here today!

Hope she is rapidly improving and feeling better, Linda I love you

This is so scary. Linda, she is definitely in my prayers. Like Shannon, I to have heard of a couple people here locally that had similar situations after gastric bi-pass. Praying for her continued, full ,recovery.

Pray for my Sister-in-Law Empty Re: Pray for my Sister-in-Law

Post by Psalmbook Thu May 31, 2012 4:06 pm

Sorry so long on the update. My mom just had a surgery today & was busy prepping for that. Mom is doing well (it was a minor thing & will hopefully make her life much better & easier).

My sister-in-law is out of the hospital & recovering at my mother-in-laws house. It's expected to be a 5-8 week recovery. She's in a lot of pain, but was joking & laughing w/ me on the phone. My big concern for her is her boy friend understood the recovery would be long before she went in & is now telling her she needs to get home soon to take care of the kids(4 yrs old & 2 yrs old).... He's wanting to go out with his friends (yes he's always been a jerk) Mad

So, I'm really hoping he lets her have the recovery she needs...
