For those of you who don't use the $5 face pricing, do you charge the same for a mask as you do a full face?

Thanks!

When I select designs for PPF events, I do it based on complexity/estimated time to complete rather than just % of face covered. A full face puppy can take me a lot less time compared to certain bling masks just because of how specifically detailed some of the line work is on those masks vs random spots for a puppy. I hope that makes sense.

I charge for masks what I would charge for a full face design..both sides most of the time are symetrical..which is more difficult that most full face designs...and when adding stones and bling its may be more..

Not $5 faces Empty Re: Not $5 faces

It sounds good on paper to offer a few different prices, but honestly, I'm way more happy just doing $5 faces. I only have to carry bills, which definitely cuts down on the time I would be spending fumbling to give people the right change. And I don't have to make different boards or memorize what costs what.

So I've just been offering a variety of different designs. If someone has their heart set on a cheek cupcake rather than a rainbow tiger, and they're willing to pay $5 for it, that's totally fine with me. I haven't had anyone complain about the price yet, and I'm loving the simplicity.

Not $5 faces Empty Re: Not $5 faces

Most of my "PPF" gigs are actually fundraisers where I contract to be paid a flat rate or hourly, but the kids give me tickets to get their faces done. So, I end up having a couple of "levels" of designs that cost different amounts of tickets. I make sure my business cards are available to everyone. The dreaded cheek art might be 2 tix, basic face 4, and premium face 6 (or whatever), but since the price per ticket varies, that's up to the school. I just offer 3 levels and they decide pricing from there. Since I'm paid the same whether I paint one stroke rainbows or full face tigers all day, it makes no difference to me other then being perceived as being professional and a good value for what I offer.

My masks are on my $10 board. I have severely simplified my $5 board down to the simplest of simple stuff.

I'm pretty much where Perry's at with my design board. I can paint 50 faces for $5 across the board and make $250 or I can paint 50 faces and have 12 of them be the higher price point paintings and make $310...guess which one I'm going for. I keep the $5 faces simple but impactful and paint elaborate designs that take up more time for more money because while I'm painting it, I'm probably losing a customer who happens by and walks away because the line doesn't seem to be moving.

Thanks guys! I'm in the process of trying to figure out my market for PPF and how to create my design board. Right now I'm doing some benefits and some other work so we'll have to see where it goes. Your input is VERY helpful!!!!!!!

I have 3 tiers of designs, small/medium/large or 1 eye/tattoo, 2 eye/1/2 face, whole face (all my whole face go to the lips except for zombies & Hulk... I never paint the chin). I price by event, so prices can fluctuate from $2 - $10. I do offer large family discounts ($1 off each design if they have 3 or more children). I always upsell. For $5 - $10 more you can get liquid bling & gem clusters on your design. I also have glitter tattoos & henna tattoos & also sell them as sm/md/lg. I really try to only take large festivals now where the lowest I'll charge is $5....

I have 2 boards... $7 and $9. This price point works well in my area.

The $7 board has simple, but real nice designs like sharks, quick princess masks, and a lot of one stroke designs that look more elaborate than they are.

The $9 board has the designs that take longer.. Butterfly mask, full animal faces, etc...

I also place the $9 board at kids' eye level and the $7 board lower... I sell a lot of $9 faces with a lot of $1 tips. 90% of the time, kids choose from them, once in a while, a parent asks me to paint 'something small', where then I charge $5
