Not sure if this is only in Australia but I thought I'd share it just in case. Looks like a similar idea to 'the square' in America

They are bringing it to the US (the paypal one you can put on your phone and swipe cards) it asked recently when looking at my account if I wanted to sign up for one........or be advised when it was available... stating it was free.
