Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
There was another request on the One-Stroke Facebook page about using one-stroke cakes so I did another separate video for it. I've touched on this method before in other videos but this makes it a little clearer and is a more closeup version.

Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Thanks Denise! I think I was using too much water, and not pressing my brush far enough down. Very helpful.
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Thank you, love your videos and this one is really helpful!

Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Now you're gonna get me hooked on new size of splits....shame on you! Loved the tutorial...
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Denise, you are the bomb. Any suggestions on how to keep these little cakes even across the top? The middle of mine always wear down faster, which makes for more water pooling problems.
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
I know! The rainbow is the worst (the one in the video) because I'm trying to use all the colors at once. My others aren't so bad because I can shift over for some designs and use the dark. One trick I've been doing lately, especially on the ones with black on the end is using that for line work. I did it in the video with the three one stroke butterflies with the teal on the end. I used it for the bodies of the butterflies. It helps use up that color, goes with the design and it's already pretty wet by the time you've used it for one stroke. Like for the rainbow cake, I could start adding red and purple blossoms in my rainbow designs. I did this with the dove design I did on Emma.
The last thing I do is when they get to the bottom I take the whole thing out, cut it back into colors and repair it. I've done that with the snake and dragon cakes. It's a pain but for a little bit of effort, I've got a new cake.
One thing I saw at FPBA that I'm going to try is making "sushi" with paint bits. It's Rebecca's idea and she might even start marketing them at Silly Farm but it's paint bits rolled up in a circle and you can use your smoothie or lollipops to make eyes on butterflies or little jewels of color on a mask. She's basically a genius. What a great idea for those of us that like playing in our bits.
Here's a Berry Cake example where I used the purple for the bodies:

you activate the paint with spray, take the smoothie and squish it in the paint and then press on a design.

Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Oh those little sushi paints are so cool! I'd love to see them in action.
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Amazingly informative. So appreciate your always thoughtful posts, Denise.
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I posted this on the One-stroke group but I'll post it here. It's Rebecca's mask she did at FPBA with the sushi and then on her Facebook I found a cute Parrot she did with the sushi stamp too...I want to learn how to do this parrot mask!
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Wow, those sushi rolls are awesome! Did Rebecca use them for the circles on the masks or she used them for the whole design? Is there any video where we can see how they work? Btw Denise, you're a great teacher, love all your videos

Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
Ow, yes, please! I would love to learn how to use those! Does she make them herself?
Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
She was hoping that Heather would start providing them at Silly Farm but that will take awhile. She just made them herself.
She just uses them for the little circle patterns in the design.

Re: Loading your brush for one-stroke painting
thanks for the video, that seems so easy when I see it but when I try I just can't do the same as you do. this flower shape is too hard to get for me is it a matter of practice ? How long time did it take for you to get goods designs with these sorts of cakes ?
thanks in advance, I practice, practice and pratice again and I hope to get it soon
