I can't wait to use this stuff! I use a lidded Tidy Cats cat litter pail (covered in red duct tape so the public doesn't see the cat litter printing!) to dump my dirty water into. At one event I had forgotten to bring a plastic bag to put my used sponges in so i just tossed them into the dirty water bucket.... then when the event was done I was so tired that I left the bucket in my car for several days.....the poor little baby sponges were sooooooo gross... stained the color of that yucky, murky, dirty paint water. Hopefully this will help get some of the staining out!!!

My water tub doesn't get too dirty...I think it is all the soap from washing the brushes...

Miss Ronnie, I had some stains come out of my sponges (had to soap them up and scrub them around on the palm of my hand) and some that didn't but I definitely saw an improvement overall. Up until the Purity, I had been using Ivory bar soap and Master's primarily although I tried some pure castile soap from my local health food store as well as some "organic" soap called Myers. The Myers was a total waste as was the castile soap from the health food store. Hope your "babies" clean up for you.

Miss Ronnie, have you gotten your soap yet? Suzy, awaiting your review. I am curious if others get the kind of results that I did. My hubby and I had a lot of work today in the woods on the land we are buying. Came home and for some wild reason (must have been the time with Mother Nature) decided to wash up head to toe with the Purity. Hard to get a lather unless you use a pouf but I liked it. Yes, it does smell like the old time castile hospital soap, but then I am an old(er) nurse and the smell is kinda nostalgic for me. LOL. Laughing

Ok, it took a couple of weeks to come but I love this soap. My sponges have never been cleaner. Not all the stains are gone but they are soooo much better. I've used it on my metal case and it removed stains I've never been able to get out. Also my smoothies and lollipop swabs now look new again, not a stain left on them. Thanks, Shannon

That was much my experience as well. I thought castile soap should be easy to find and work the same so I bought some called Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap at the health food store after unsuccessfully looking for the old time castile bars. Dr. Bronner's Magic did not perform on my sponges as well as the Purity. The stains that didn't come out will unfortunately be permanent (I even went so far as to sacrifice one of the sponges in a pot of Rit Color Remover and it did nothing Sad ). When I got the Purity, I didn't expect it to work but it did make an improvement on some sponges that I had given up on.

I tried it on my brushes so far (not sponges) and I have to say that I was disappointed. Perhaps it was because they were stained for so long? Perhaps it is because I use mostly Wolfe and DFX? I don't know but it didn't work as well for me. I washed one brush in Purity soap and the other in Ivory
Before......

After

I do have to say that the brush washed in purity soap's bristles were very soft and conditioned feeling.

Will try with sponges later on Smile

Over all I didn't hate it... But based on those 2 old brushes.. it didn't make much of a difference what soap I used. The ones with the purity soap felt so soft and smooth though.

I dunno. I give it a 6 so far. I will try sponges later though...

Suzy, I didn't have much luck removing stains from brushes and some of my sponges didn't improve. I am hoping that the Purity as well as Shannon's tip on keeping my sponges wet after painting keeps the sponges looking good. For some reason a green tinged brush doesn't bug me as much as a stained sponge. Don't know why. scratch

Let the sponges soak in water after lathering them up at least twice and rinsing. Just let them soak overnight, then if there is still some colour give them another lather...

I find that the soaking shifts out stubborn colours. NOT ALL, of course, but practically all of mine. I have maybe a dozen assorted out of hundreds that won't come clean which is okay, I just leave those at home.

The green in the brushes is really tough... Mine aren't too bad but they are washed IMMEDIATELY while working so the paint doesn't have a change to "soak in" but the ones I use when body painting can sit while I am working and dry out - those are the ones that have stained green for me. They've lightened up with the Purity, but are still green.

I try to keep to darker brushes so it doesn't show...

BTW Shannon, I tried the Purity on my hair last night. God chose to "bless" me with an abundance of curls (though like most curly girls I've longed for straightness at varyious times). I'm always on the lookout for a product that cleans gently and leaves my curls happy. This morning they were very happy. Jury still out but if they continue to behave I may have found my new "shampoo". Got any suggestions for a sagging neck and a few wrinkles? So long as it doesn't involve surgery, injection of toxins, or chemical/laser burning, I'd be cool to try it. Cool

Apparently Reef Botanicals "super fats" the soap which makes it a bit more "conditioning" than soaps with less fat to lye ratios.

Hey Suzy did you have any luck with the stains in your sponges? I'm resigned to the stains in my brushes. Went by the art supply today and bought some brush cleaner that was supposed to be able to remove even dried paint. No luck on the stains though. Even tried some bleach on them. Gave up after that. They came yesterday, but I am so stinkin' busy to get anything done.... I did try a few sponges... saw an immediate difference with very little effort. My hands feels soft, too. I have to wait until my day off tomorrow to get these puppies cleaned.

On a different note... my electronic tip jar also arrived.... it's humungous! The kids are going to BEG to put money in it!!!! cheers

Here's my review for my this product:

I find it to be worth the money spent. I will buy it again when this jar runs out. My sponges were horribly stained and now they are not. They have faint remnants of color on some of them, but definitely acceptable.

And here's an even better testimonial to this soap; Yesterday, I realized why I hadn't been able to find my 90 gram Wolfe Black all week and was using smaller ones and pearl black in its place.... I had accidentally thrown it into my trash bag when closing up after I don't know which event this past week. I threw the bag into one of my cat litter buckets and then used an entirely different bucket the rest of the week 'cause I'm tired and lazy feeling afterwards. I found the black last night inside the bag and there was water seeping into it. omg.... Wolfe Black meltdown!!! All the sponges I used were solid black! I used the Purity soap and they are almost back to perfect! Meanwhile, my Wolfe Black is airing out on the counter for a few days. I'm such a dingbat.

Yeah! I do think it does a good job on the sponges...brushes, well like Shannon said, green is a difficult color to remove.
