Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I really can't say enough how great this soap is for cleaning sponges and brushes - I've blogged about it twice now. Here is the latest BLOG POST
Larissa has now put the soap into a tub just for face and body painters to use! Well... I guess anyone who needs to clean objects could use it but why waste it on them?
This is what is does to sponges:
Links are on my blog post to her shop.

Shannon, went to their site but didn't see the tub container only the Purity bars. Is it on a different page?

As luck would have it, I currently have $15 in my paypal account. I have also been trying to find a good new soap. Thanks, Shannon!
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I second the Purity Soap......I've been using it for 3 years and LOVE the stuff!!!
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I'm a convert! I used my soap tonight to clean a whole bucket full of sponges. They cleaned up so well that I dug through my sponge bag and pulled out all of the ones that had stains. Washed those too. This stuff works!
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I placed an order on March 25 and still haven't received it yet...had it shipped within the States, too!
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I spoke to her about the orders taking forever to get to us. She had posted the sale as soon as she ordered the tubs, but the tubs ended up back ordered or something of the sort. She couldn't make the soap until she got the them, and she didn't get them until last week.
She shipped them out as soon as she made the soap, though. I got mine today. You should probably get yours Monday or Tuesday.

Oh! Okay, that's good to know - thanks. I was going to call/email her but thought I'd give it another couple of days first.
fingers crossed!

Awesome! So it's just Castile soap?
I have a ton of soap-making supplies, I'll have to make a big batch of it. It's only 3 ingredients, very easy.

Honestly, I used Castile Soap before I found her soap & it didn't get my sponges as clean as this Purity does.....not sure what she puts in there, but it seriously works!

Hmmmm... how interesting! She only lists those 3 ingredients, as well. Maybe she uses different ratios than others. I'll have to try a batch and see how the results are.

Magic. She puts in magic.
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Great soap! Won't say that it took away all the old set-in stains on every sponge but got rid of the some of them and was a definite improvement on others. I'm a Purity convert and glad I went ahead and got two tubs (save on shipping in the long run). Thanks Shannon and thank your friends for me as well for a great product!

Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Glad you like it. Yes, there are SOME stains that just don't come out - those are my stay at home paint myself sponges.
And some of the greens in the brushes are not completely removed, but they are much less noticable. Most of the other colours, though, have come completely out.
Part of the trick is to NOT let the brushes and sponges dry out completely before washing them. I always put my used sponges in a bucket and keep them saturated (by dumping my dirty water into the bucket too) and then rinse and wash at home. If they never dry out pretty much ALL the colour will come out.
I also have found (over years of doing this) that leaving sponges to soak will get out stubborn stains... discovered this when I left a bucket of washed sponges sitting in rinse water for several days (I was busy, NOT lazy!! ) and lo and behold all of the "stains" had vanished. It was just clean water. So letting the water saturate the sponges will shift out any pigments that have worked their way into the middle of the sponge. That's my "secret" to clean sponges.

Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Thanks for the tip. Most of the stains that didn't come out had been there for a year. Live and learn about how to prevent the stains but yeah I do love that soap! Thanks again!

Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I put my order in for a tub this morning! The maker messaged me and said she was in the process of making more... apparently there must have been a run on the stuff... hmmmmmm
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Mine still haven't come in I emailed her and she said it was shipped priority last week and should have arrived already...nada. Hopefully the mail place sends me an email soon, saying I have a package...
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
It's just castile soap though. I can get half a gallon of pure castile soap for the price of this 8 oz tub at my local health food store.
Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Been there done that. Don't ask me what's different...it just is.

Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
I have tried others too... I use this soap, Purity, on myself as well and it is just excellent. I wash my hair with it too. Skin is soft, cleared up some contact dermititis on the inside of my thumbs... AND it cleans sponges and brushes!!
It is pure castile soap... they just do it is some sort of magic cauldron or something.

Re: Purity Soap by Reef Botanicals
Only had bars when I went to order, but I'm going to give them a try...my sponges look awful. Also find fp really doesn't clean off some plastic very well...look at some artist water containers, I'm hoping this soap will help.
