I'm looking to put a "tabletop" on my fatmax, and can't figure out what to use. I love Suzy's and Squiggles' and some others I have seen. Anyone care to share what you use and how you keep it from flying off? Thanks!

I layer four game boards from four different Trivial Pursuit games I have. They fold up into nice little squares and store sideways in the bottom of Maxine. When I place them on top I make sure the split sides are stacked different ways to reinforce the layers. I bet you could find some at yard sales or thrift stores.

The scrapbook paper cases I use double as table tops. I only have paint on one side an put the brushes on the other.
It's not a perfect situation, though, they over hang a bit. And they have this funky little over hang by the handles that eats a little space. But I'm pretty happy with them.
<----- yea you can see them there. Until I change my avatar.

I use my scrapbook paper cases. I lay the side I keep the paints in over the hole & the lids make a table top over the fatmax lid. I lay a black hand towel over the lid half & set my brush holder & splits on that side.
This isn't a great close-up of it, but hopefully you can see it.

i use a cork board I got at walmart..its light with a frame..about poster size...I poked holes on the side so i can bungie it to the fat max it works great..or you can use foam board but i would get the thicker foam board and that works great too.

I sandwiched a couple of pieces of foam board and then put colorful duct tape around the edges. Then I made a square in the middle of all the sides, with the duct tape, and make a cross cut through to hook bungies to that hook around the wheel axle. I got the idea from someone here, thank you...The bungies I'm using are 24" long from hook to hook and they don't pull down too hard, just enough to secure it.

It was so funny too...as soon as I made it I ended up needing it. They put me right by the door because it was bad weather and they had invited the whole family so I didn't have a kitchen table or bar like I usually do and it worked out perfectly. I did have a little more back strain than I would with a bar but it was much better than the entry table I WOULD have had to use.

Yep, that's the system I use, Denise! I, too, got it from someone here and I wouldn't do a gig without it now! I actually then use the bungies to wrap around the fatmax and hold the tabletop and my menu board when I'm done Smile

Cool thanks, Dawnie. I made two trips so that will save me a trip.

Just curious, do you fear having that much extension from your kit? One roan child & the whole table top could go flying...

I looks like a lot Linda, but it's only a few inches past the lid. You could even cut off the end a bit to fit your paint caes but my 12x12 scrapbook cases are pretty long so I left it long.

I have all my paints and glitters arranged in two long wooden trays (with handles and 1" high sides). I lay these trays side-by-side over the top of the FatMax. The trays then act as a solid wooden tabletop, and they don't budge. For extra security, I could lay some non-slip matting over the FatMax before setting the trays down, but I've never had to.

I don't, however, get the luxury of storing my paints away when I transport. I have to stack the two trays and carry them separately. I'm working on a cure for that. Surprised)
