$3.99 wig form who knew?? Here are the pics
Hi guys, hope all is well with you and yours..........
I had been going back and forth as to whether I wanted to get a practice head or not, especially since the kid is pretty much over being my model, and I'm gettin kinda tired of painting on myself. Anyway I wasn't all that jazzed about shelling out the $50 or so bucks to get one, but figured I would try a P2 practice pad.
When I went to order the practice pad I saw they had the face shells as well for like $10 bucks maybe?? Well I ordered one thinkin hey I could fit it on one of my daughter's old bratz doll Hair station heads. (large bust of doll head and shoulders) Well it was a little small but could do in a pinch if need be. So I decided to see if I could find something else.
Well I was in the beauty supply shop and happen to see those styrofoam wig forms and..........ding ding ding ding IT WORKS!!!!! The perfect size head shape and the nose and mouth on the form line up perfectly with the nose and mouth on the shell, and because of the styro and the material of the shell it does not slide off or move around at all.
So for anyone not uite willing to spend the 50 on a head.....get a shell for like 10 or 12 and buy a wig form.
Whoooooooooooooo hoooooooo

Awesome! I have one of those wig heads for balloon hats - glad to know they fit the face shells Might have to buy one of those now, haha.

Kristal, I can hook you up with the extra face shell. I bought a bunch from wimex because I knew I'd get some stained.

And I like the way that it stands up on them. I'm used to painting on the one that is flat on the table.

I bought a wig form at Sally's but it seems to be a bit smaller than the practice face and not fitting well....
At which store did you buy the wig form and how snugly does the practice face fit?

Those styrofoam heads are $2.99 at Value Village right now... I picked up some a couple weeks ago. Only one prob - they don't have the hold in the base to fit on the stands...

Re: $3.99 wig form who knew?? Here are the pics
Um... well, I have stands - two types. One is a large suction cup with a spike that fits up into the heads to hold them still on a table. The other is a 2"X6" plank about 4 ft long with 1" thick dowels about 5" high inserted about 10 inches apart along it - sort of like a coat rack to look at except the dowels are straight. The heads fit on the dowels so I can carry 5 heads wearing wigs at once, and use it to style them on, transport to the theatre, etc.
You can also buy the stands - which consist of a clamp to attach to a table that had a rod sticking up that you put the head on. Look here to see what I mean http://salon.wimexbeauty.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=76202&Category_Code=7510
