Dinga Bear Organic FP
Was browsing through today's voucher deals and came across one for 50% off a starter organic fp kit...first link is the deal page, second link is the product page.

I haven't looked properly or anything - just wanted to post. Thoughts on ingredients? I'll pull out some pots soon to compare - I've not trained myself to pick out different ingredients yet and recognize them for purposes like this.
And their PO Box is Chilliwack - Carolyn, ever heard of them?

Okay so some observations:
1. FIVE colours... white, black, brick red, blue and yellow...? Guess you get to use your colour wheels to mix up what you want.
2. They say to get deeper colour to apply one coat, let it dry, and apply another... I don't think I have time for that.
3. I don't see any photos of the cakes themselve to see the colours, nor any photos of paintings? Did I miss them?
4. Did you notice in their "Face Painting Tips" that they are referring to Snazaroo??? I think they lifted the text from somewhere and didn't edit it very well! LOL

Same thoughts I had, Shannon....
For Pete's sake, they should at least have a picture of it.....

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
Out of curiosity I wrote an inquiry last night. It gets weirder:
Here's the reply I got:
"I will check out the Snazaroo referance... weird!
Each jar contains about 1 gr of product but on kit is enough to do 100 faces.
Cheers!

I saw the Snaz reference - how odd!
The only photo I've seen was on the first link for the deal itself - but that could very well just be a stock photo.
Each jar is 1 gr. A small Wolfe pot is 30 gr. They can get 100 faces out of 20% of a pot of Wolfe? Layering the colour?

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
I would say no... The company doesn't sound very professional from the email they sent to you... I don't know, I think I'd rather spend money on what I know is good and well known among the trade.
Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
hmm.... looks like their tips are the same as on http://www.snazaroo.com/beginners-guide/basic-techniques/ (which is not snazaroo.us, but the other one...)
Odd also that they list 5 colours, but call it a 6 pack, that the picture shows 5 colours, but the labelling in the photo shows 6x1gr ..... They say 30 faces on the site, but 100 faces in the email....

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
To clarify - it never crossed my mind to actually USE these - I just wanted to make all y'all aware that these were out there, and to see if there was anything sketchy about the ingredients or anything. (Nope, still haven't compared ingredients.)
Didn't notice the 5 vs 6 thing - good eye! Methinks they have to get their facts straight!

Any "organic" cosmetics I have seen are what you can generally describe as "earth tones" which makes sense in a way. Think dirt, bark and spices...
Not something most kids would pick.

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
I wouldn't use it on lips - it has grapefruit seed extract (can change the absorption of medications) and tocopherol (if it is wheat based causes a reaction for those with a gluten allergy).... but basically it is pretty simple - water, olive oil, candelilla wax, baking soda, corn starch, tocopherol, grapefruit seed extract and (standard) pigments.
It certainly has fewer ingredients than the face paints we are used to - and far fewer synthetics. I don't know how long it would last once opened and how well it's preservatives (the grapefruit seed extract) would work (especially painting multiple children). It doesn't have the parabens that Snaz or Starblends have as a preservative, Sodium Benzoate that Wolfe, DFX, Tag etc have as a preservative, or Butylene Glycol that Paradise has (it's list is really long and an interesting mix of natural and synthetic ingredients - probably more in there but that was the only one I recognized).
Other than the fact I have no idea how well it works (ie they don't actually have a picture using it), and that they don't show the colours (other than the basic 5), and that I really have issues with a company that copies entire pages from other companies, I think it looks great....

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
I am really curious about their 3pk kit colours...
Flowers & Fairies Kit: pink, purple and turquoise
Goblins & Animals Kit: orange, brown and green
the 5 pk has all the natural pigments - the iron oxides (Black, Red, Yellow), titanium dioxide and it even looks like the natural ultramarine (instead of the synthetic I'm used to using) - they really don't make nice pink, purple, orange or green...... (turquoise and brown I can kinda see.... sorta....)

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
I found these folks on Craigslist back in Oct '10. We'd had a discussion here back then and Shannon shared her blog post about safe facepaints that I continue to refer folks to. Thanks Shannon!
Here's their website: http://www.dingabear.com
I've not come across them in public anywhere yet. So they can't be that big.
Here's Shannon's blog post on claims of lead in paint: http://shannonfennell.wordpress.com/2009/10/29/proper-professional-face-paints-are-safe-cosmetics/
Here's the blog I read on DIY facepaints that prompted Shannon's reference to her blog from my questions:

Re: Dinga Bear Organic FP
Uhg. I get so frutrated with this train of thought. Probably because I have autistic kids who take medication and I have heard all the hubub about every strange and wonderful natural treatment rip off out there and been dressed down for using medications that help them feel better by people who have no business in my business. Glasses are unatural, I would point out...and I have not met a single person who would say, no, I won't give my kid glasses, that would be unnatural, I am going to treat this astygmatism with natural organic sources...duh. Anyway, so many "organic" "natural" things are bad for us. Sunshine can be very bad for us, I think it is natural. Oleanders are natural, have a bowl of them....sorry, I am jadded and cynical. It makes me mad when people are making a buck this way.
