Snazaroo singles Empty Snazaroo singles

Post by SmileyBee Faces Wed Mar 21, 2012 2:13 am

So Im new to facepainting, and im on a face paint obbsession.

I just bought some snazaroo single paints from my local michaels. And I dont know what to think of it. I have yet to use it at a gig, and whenplaying around with them they seem ok.

Are they worth keepingin my kit? Or should I stick to my Diamond fx?

Thanks.

I used snazaroo for 2 years and they were fine, just doing indoor events. I found the white to be a bit cakey when I used it to paint swirls over other colors. But then they got warm (I am in Texas) and they never quite solidified again. They are gooey. They still paint just fine, although I have to be extra careful that I don't get globs on my paintbrush.

I'm also a newbie and I have most snazaroo in my kit. I think that they are not bright enough when I compare to DFX (just have white, black and a rainbow cake), but I like to use the red or orange as a base for spiderman or a tiger for example, since I have not used an other paint yet !

So I don't really know I will say that it's enough good to start, to work on designs, ideas and to train but when you are good, when you're ready, when you don't need books anymore or when you can paint a face less then 5 minutes I will say to change to DFX that is much better (just look at the pics on the forum and compare Smile

I use only Snazaroo due to allergies with other brands... They require a little more water to work them into a proper consistency compared to the other brands, but they are perfectly good paints and much easier to wash off.

I use Snazaroo alot (quite nice for me to use something British as I am in London). They are great paints. For black and white line work, I think nothing beats Diamond fx.

I am newly converted onto Tag - the pearl colours are amazing. Especially the tag pearl yellow which actually shows up, unlike so many yellows.

I use mainly Snazaroo since it's readily available in Britain... I love it for bases but for linework I stick to DFX black or white.

It might just be Texas or Dallas or whatever, but I've tried out a few Snazaroo colors and picked them up at a local Michaels, and the entire packages were already goopy. I was pretty dissapointed because the colors looked pretty.

I've been using Snazaroo for at least a decade. And in my working kit I use Snaz black for linework on children. There are some colours that are great - red, all the sparkle colours, yellow ochre, and white for bases.

I do use many other brands as well. But Snazaroo is a perfectly good brand, is safe on most people, and easy to clean ... which to me is one of the most important things.

I love snazaroo for base work on children (and often adults too) - that and starblends seem to be the gentlest overall base, from my experience - no heavy perfume and easy to remove, haven't had any reports of it "tightening' up either.

I think that the best kits are made of a variety of paints. Snaz and Paradise are super great for bases. TAG has some gorgeous colors and blends really well. DFX and Wolfe have quick dry, staying power and make nice crisp lines. I'm finding an appreciation for some Kryolan as well. Some paints are more readily available and less expensive. Best advice....try a variety, find what you love and will use, build a nice kit, and take good care of your paints.
Side note...Shannon, thanks to you I am now lusting after yellow ochre and sparkle turquoise. Christina Davidson has me lusting for Snaz sparkle orange as well. MUST resist ...I DO NOT need more paint! pale

I dont paint professionally, but my first expirience with snaz was not so great. Very hard to get the right consisitency. (They were dry and cracking when I got them on amazon. ) After my little one put loads of water into the pallets they are becoming more user friendly. I also went to michaels with my Joann coupons and purchased the red, white and black snaz at 40% off. So I even like them better now.. I also picked up some clearance tulips for practice. 2.99 for the big round and some glitter 2.99 for 2. Enjoi

There is an easy remedy for snaz when it becomes "goopy" and that is to just pop it in the fridge for approx 10 mins. If you are doing an outdoor event keep a small cooler avail to "set them up" again on really hot days. These paints have an excellent rep when it comes to child safety. Smile
