So, I was painting at an Indian Cultural event this weekend, Indian Dancing, Prayer cerimonies, costumes, food, really cool event. I had my daughter and her friend, doing glitter and airbrush tattoos, and I was painting and we were all slammed from 6 to 11. It was a blast. I just got done painting a boy, and his Mom walks up to him, and scolds him in a deep Indian accent (imagine it, because it makes it even funnier) "Rhajish, you cannot say the prayers as a rainbow tiger, go wash"

Seriously, I get so much inspiration from this community. The dresses were stunning. They had the richest color I have ever seen, even more beautiful than the everyday party sari's they usually wear. These were dance costumes, and they were absolutly gorgous saturated colors. I am inspired to try a pink and silver mask, and a wine, ocher, and green mask from the costumes. It was a fun event.

Just finished with Aladdin Jr. yesterday and drew so much inspiration from the Indian community. I made a whole pinterest album just of Aladdin inspiration and created the whole color scheme for the show from a door that was orange, fuchsia, red, navy with just a touch of apple green...

LOVE the colors...

"Rhajish, you cannot say the prayers as a rainbow tiger, go wash" SO funny. I used to have an Indian boss he would say, "It blows my mind off!" instead of "It blows my mind..."

My husband has a really funny story that is totally inapropriate about a kind of beer called golden wheat, and a young man from India at his firm who was out drinking with some friends who told him that the name of the beer also had the word "showers" in it...he was offering it to girls in the bar, with not so good results, so the next morning, all these young men were at work (my husband is thier boss) and they told the guy to google golden showers. Now, you have to also imagine the accent...and when my husband tells it (I pee myself) he says, the guy came out of his cubicle, saying "you F'ing guys, I google that, and all I see is pop, pop, pop, pop, all over the place, you F'ing guy's!"
