pretty much anything on the Mac, if people say ctrl, switch it for command... there are very few programs that use ctrl on the Mac.

I'm still a little on the fence about the new layout... LOVE the swirly purple background (what a coinkydink that it matches my new avitar! LOL! ) ... but the new icons and the smaller text I think are just going to need some getting used to. I don't want to complain, and I don't think I am... afterall, life is full of changes and we all have to learn to adapt. Havne't checked the shop out yet... I think I'm headed there next!

My MAC has the control key. I just hold it down and scroll the mouse up for bigger, down for smaller Smile

I feel so silly, I was straining to read and didn't know you could push control while scrolling and it would become bigger! Much better now. I really need to take a computer class. LOL Love the background swirls Metina. Smile

Smiletime.......I don't know if you noticed this post by Trina. This made all the difference to me and a few others by the look of it.

I like it overall but I find the text hard to read too... even with the zooming in option. Just a random thing but when I was researching web design for my webpage I found some stuff that said people spend less time on pages where the text is white on black, so maybe we'll all get more housework done???

Yeah I'm not really loving this layout... there's so much wasted space on the sides, and I'm finding it difficult to see which topics have new comments, or which boards are most recently active. There are a few different colours going on and I'm not sure what they mean. Why are some board titles yellow and others white? Confusing... And having to manually change your font size is a bit user-unfriendly and doesn't really solve the underlying problems.

I know Metina is trying hard, but I really hope the forum doesn't stay like this... maybe it'd be worth hiring a web developer to fix it up a bit? scratch

Ohh, I like! Much easier on the eyes than the white. Phew! White backgrounds make my eyes tired really fast and cause me to go blurry a lot sooner than darker backgrounds.

TRINA - I'm thrilled with this newfound trick you shared with the ctrl key/scroll/zoom thing! WooHoo! So clueless.

It looks very professional, Metina. Don't know yet about the total layout... will see after I hang out awhile.

Post by JJJJJ Wed Mar 07, 2012 5:27 pm

Is anyone having this problem: some of the topics I open have page sizes that go practically from one side of the screen to the other. THe sentences are so long, and I have to move the blue bar at the bottom to move the page so I can read the sentence from left to right. Then, some pages are more narrowly confined within the black section, and it's a little easier. On some, I get to the bottom and I then have to use the blue bottom bar to move the page sideways so I can click to continue to the second or third page of the topic.

Overall, this is really distressing. It's not at all easy to just read this forum right now.

I'm not complaining. I'm just sharing this as input for Metina, because this is what is happening out here in computerland.

Change is okay, and I always go with it. But this is just making it really really laborious to navigate the site. And I love this site. SO hopefully this input is helpful in case some things still need tweaking.

Surprised) Joan

The page sizes becoming wide are usually caused by photos that are too big. If you have zoomed in then the photos are going to become even bigger.

I actually like going to a post where the photo has widened it... for some reason I am having a hard time adjusting to everything being in a tiny strip down the middle.

I'm having trouble with the tiny strip down the middle too. The old one was just wide enough for the reading to be pleasant and be quickly scanned. The switches from wide to narrow and all the extra navigation input with adjusting the blue bar and sliding it this way and that really gets in the way of a smooth navigation. I LOVE ADORE this forum. I hope that it gets streamlined and easier again.
