"One stroke' Brushes

So if you were looking to get more one stroke brushes with out breaking the budget, where would you look? Is there an equivalent to the expensive branded ones? A lowe-cornell version?
Because, you know, I only have 1 one incher, two 3/4, and two #12. Oh, but I do have a 1 1/2 incher. but only one.

They have some nice brushes on DickBlick.com and often have good sales. There's even a 'one-stroke' category for brushes. After taking a quick peek, the cheapest 1 inch brush I see is $7.50 (http://www.dickblick.com/products/princeton-snap-golden-taklon-stroke), so maybe that's a bit too pricey for you?

You could also check out Walmart or any local craft supply stores to see if you can find a good deal. Good luck!

I get the purple and/or blue ones from Michael's, that say "Craft Smart by Royal" on them...they're cheap and they work better than my Simply Simmons ones. I think it was like $5 for a set of three, a 1 inch, 3/4 inch, and a 1/2 inch. AND I used a coupon.

Royal Crafters are not too bad either, for the price. I like Simply Simons too, in a flat brush. I have not warmed up to the round ones

I like the Paradise 3/4, it has a shorter handle that most and it really suits my style, i think they're $7 on sillyfarm, facepaint forum may als sell them as well as the other sizes you mentioned

I wouldn't call it cheap, but the Paradise 1" brush from the Face Paint Forum Ship is great! I like that the bristles are shorter than most flatbrushes & offer a better amount of control.

Walmart has decent flat brushes with green handles. I've got a few and I really can't tell much difference then my Donna Dewberry(can't believe I just said that).

Here, in Australia, Bunnings Hardware have a range of craft brushes call Renoir. Prices range from about AU$1.20 up to AU$3.50, rounds and flats in a good range of sizes. They are great for all my one stroke and make great double dipped flowers. Only problem is they are LONG handled so I run them through my band saw. Chop Chop )

I just bought a Huge 20 piece set of Donna Dewberry one stroke brushes on ebay. $12 for like 20 brushes. 1ince, 3/4 inch 1/2 inch and alot more.

I just buy the Lowell-Cornell Soft Comfort Brushes from the Joann's craft store. I like them because they have a thinner profile (less bristles) and so they have a good chisel on them. Get the 3/4" with the shorter bristles and not the long floppy ones. They moved from the acrylic to coated wood though...so you might have to nail polish them down the line but they work really well for me.

I think any flat brush that has synthetic bristles, not to long and not too thick works well. I do like that the Paradise has the acrylic handles though so if I didn't get a great price because of coupons I might get those.

I got some of these brushes, chopped the handles down and gave the ends of the handles a quick sand and painted end with a bit of nail polish. I'm really happy with them!

Thanks everyone so much. I've done a lot of looking. I've gotten a few of the Simply simmons ones, they are ok. I found a few packets of Masters touch brand ones at michales and they were on sale. Everything from the 1.5 to a 1/2 inch filbert. I'm pretty happy now. for a while at least.

I actually just visited Michael's last night and picked up some lovely 3/4 brushes.

I also bought some of the Simply Simmons, but I found the bristles way too long. So I went back and got some Royal Langnickel soft grip 3/4" brushes that have a lot shorter bristles. I think they were around $5 each, and with a coupon, turned out very cheap!



I'm going to try them out tonight.
