Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum & to henna tattooing. Can I ask what you have found to be the best way/s to keep the tattoo from coming off for the time required to stain the skin?

I know there is the sugar/lemon syrup you can put over the top after it's dried, does anyone have any other tips?

Thankyou ahead of time,

Tashen

I have heard and tried using non aerosol hair spray (the ultra hold, stiffening kind) will help hold it in place. But be ware most of it contains alot of water and alcohol. The water may make it too wet and run! The alcohol can be so drying on skin.
I have found best to use lemon juice or a lemon/sugar mix helps hold it in place, slow drying process and allow for longer staining.
Some where I read a commment about treating the after stain with ammonia for a deepeing color effect. Not sure of the steps for that.
Good luck!

Gel hair spray works but takes forever to dry depending on where you are. If you add sugar to your mix it will stick better without a sealant.

For ammonia put a small amount in a large bag, enclose the limb with henna in the bag hovering over the top but not in the ammonia. Ammonia is not good to breath and not good for the skin so be very careful if you are going to do this.

That's interesting about the ammonia in a bag. So this is done while the paste is still on ? How long do to do this? five minutes or ??

No this is done after the paste is taken off and again ammonia is not good for the skin nor is it good to breath so while it will work it is not recommended. It takes a short time to start but about 45 mins to fully darken. I think it gains kind of an odd unnatural tint to it though.

everything I have read here http://www.winnipeghenna.com/ says that once the paste rubs or falls off it has done its job.
