Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I also tried doing a spiderman a while ago, just got around to posting it. It's a really odd design, considering it's a 1/4 / 1/2 face design. I need to add more detail and work on my lines, but I wanted your guy's opinion Thanks.
P.S. I also have WAAAYY more pictures of this design, so if you want to see the side or anything, just ask and I'll post it for you!

Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
It is effective... and obviously what you intended.
Did you paint an outline around the whole design? I think I see a black line under the hair? You probably can skip that and just either put the base colour right to the hair line or leave it with a clean edge. Makes less work!
And bringing the lines over the nose to a point/join would make it look more finished IYKWIM? But you probably know that!
Great work.

I think it looks pretty spiffy. One thing I learned...... the more Spiderman you do, the better, faster, and you'll tend to make more "webs" without realizing it. I find just doing the whole face spiderman is easier for me unless I put the little spider or the bridge of the nose to break it up a little. Also discovered that I like to put less white around the eyes to give more room for my webs! But you did a FANTATSIC JOB!
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
What is your reason for only painting the top half of the face? Maybe finish the bottom like it was torn of? (but then it should not be so horizontal) Else nice.
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I love that idea Lone! However, I think I need to get out my antiquated art book because I'm sure that there needs to be some shading at the tear area to give it a 'real' feel.
Unless you want to give me the quick and dirty version... *hint hint*

Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
Just take a almost dry brush with some brown darker than the skin tone and follow the line. Maybe not all the way, but where the tear goes up, like in the middle of a W. (does that make sense?) If you have time, then fade the brown a bit around the bottom edge.
It is best made before you put in the black line, so you don't smudge that. Then is will also cover a gap between the red and brown.
That was the technique used with the horns here http://lone-wolf.dk/Ansigtsmaling-Horn.html
(it is also in my gallery)

I like the 1/2 face/ mask looks- they stay better looking for a longer period of time.
This is especially nice at Parties where the kids eat so you don't have 1/2 the kids running around with smeared mouth areas.
Nice job!

If you have a brown eyeshadow it is even easier (and cheaper) Just make sure that there is no shimmer in.
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I like it.
My feedback just work on making the eyes less straight up - give it more of a curve with a thin to thick line and yes go red down under the eyes, on the cheeks - I think that will make it look more "spidey".

Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I think that it looks good. I've always had a rough time with Spiderman faces... not sure why. But I like the quick and light feel of this one. I think that maybe the two swirls on the sides could go, since it's a boy design... but that's all in personal taste.
Keep up the fun painting!

Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
your spidey looks great! This is my son as spidey...I didn't do the eyes horizontal enough--I tend to get vertical on those! I like doing the 1/2 face when there's a long line, and yes, it's better for eating! I also included your "horn" I tried on my thigh. It just took a long time to do since it was my first try, but wow--I like the effect. I'm going to try it this weekend! Thanks Lone!
And by the way...I HATE paradise gold. It's hard and not shimmery. Gotta get somethin diff.

Wolfe gold is Da Bomb! and it's nuclear if you add the mehron gold powder to it! Pizzzoww!!! MIND EXPLOSION!!!
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
cool-I'll have to get some! I know Wolfe has their own website, but does anyone use other websites with say, free shipping, or faster shipping, or more than just Wolfe on their site??
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
not bad on yours Jitterbug, but yes, the eyes are often too vertical on many designs for my taste... also, your webs should come out from the middle of he face instead of the vertical/horizontal grid you have there.
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
What is your favorite RED for Spiderman faces? DFX red is now kind of an orangey red. What is your fav red that covers well for full face designs?
Thanks!

Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I like using snazaroo for nearly all my child face bases.
Here's a very quick (and slightly smudged) bday party spidee, done with red snaz:

Lone Wolf, looked at your site... WOW! Can I just come carry your paint brushes for you?? lol You are a truly gifted artist!
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I almost always do spiderman masks. As soon as I explain to parents what will happen the second their child eats/drinks they always strongly urge their kid to get the mask instead of full face!
Re: Spiderman? I don't think I can!
I don't bother putting the white under the eyes, little boys never seem to like being painted there. I have never painted a full face one either.
I actually enjoy painting spiderman, no one ever seems to ask for it any more...
