liquid bling

Ok... I admit it. I have never really loved liquid bling. Maybe it just doesn't look good in pictures the way it does in person? I think it looks kinda gaudy/messy. Maybe I am crazy. That being said, I have never tried it myself or seen it in person, so I can't give a fair assessment. There seems to be a huge trend right now, and some people were even saying it was a must for just starting out. The main reason I started this thread is that I decided I need to try it. I was looking in the forum shop. I always get my stuff from Silly Farm, but I want to start ordering from Metina to support this forum when I can. The stuff in the forum shop says "3D glitter gel". Is it the same thing? Should I buy that stuff or get liquid bling from silly farm? Feel free to give me YOUR opinion on the liquid bling.

I've never tried it... but I don't really have much interest in getting any either. I like an all-over glittery look. And from what I've seen in pictures alone, the liquid bling lines always look a little shaky/sloppy compared to the linework, which I know would bother me if I tried it. Who knows... maybe one day!

Have you taken a look at what Mark Reid does with it. He makes it look beautiful even in photos.

I've never used it before either. I'm thinking about picking some up at Fabaic next year if they have a deal on it.

I've used liquid bling at a night club gig. I realy liked it, it made the designs pop. That said it really does not look great in photos. The other downside is that it takes 10-15 mins to dry so if you do a design on someone's arm or shoulder/back they do have to take care.

The metal nozzle gives a lovely fine line and it's a nice additon to your kit but you can live without it. My supplier in the UK is a bridal henna artist and uses the gold liquid bling a lot.

I guess it depends what you want to use it for. I personally think it's wasted on kids but according to some face painters they use it to add value to their masks when they are doing PPF.

I think I am going to stick to the regular Fairy Dust glitter, the liquid glitter reminds me of what they used to use on those "crafty t-shirt iron on designs" back in the 80's, just saying....that's just my opinion, hope it doens't offend anyone

It doesn't offend me. I posted the pictures the way I did because I too thought it was bulky, but when I saw it used at FABAIC, I realized it dries flat. The last photo is after it dried.

I used to have a menu with just $4 dollars designs, I upgrade my menu and now I have a $7 dollars bling mask, and there is not a single day when I don't sell them, I am so happy, in those days when I paint only 20 kids from 10 to 5 at least 5 are my bling, they save my day!!!!
I recommend Liquid Bling or the one Metina sells, NO Mark Reid's b/c gets really liquid.

I love the stuff Metina sells... all pretty much the same. I ordered 4 of the Mark Reid ones and they were watery. I know it was a batch issue........ But when I look at those watery things in my closet... it angers me a bit..

I tend to agree with Whobwhate.... but I actually really love it in your pictures WMEVENTS. The tiger is really neat. And... it's nice to hear that it dries flat. That's nice to know. Where can I see what Mark Reid does with it????

I have a few love gold the best have ordered 3 silvers from different supplyers at diffrent times (so different batches) and silver always seems watery I top it up with glitter but feel ripped of as I shouldn't have too.
and honestley had I not ordered silver and gold (which wasn't watery) at the same time.
I would be wondering what all the fuss was about.

Hmm. Interesting. I have a LOT of silver glitter that I NEVER use. Whenever silly farm sends me "free glitter", it's always silver. lol.

I like the liquid bling for the adults and teens. Little kids just can't wait for it to dry without smudging it, and then they want their paint fixed. I just noticed that my silver has gone watery, too. Was wondering what was up with that. I wonder if it will work just to brush/dab it on?

I bought some last year from Silly Farm, and when I received it, it was really runny, in both the small and large size I bought. I couldn't use it effectively, thought it was just me, until last week at a Pashur workshop in Aus I saw everyone else's' Liquid Bling. Completely different, gel type quality. Much like the other Aus product I had been using, but with MUCH more glitter. Gorgeous! I emailed Silly Farm, but no word as yet

I began to use Liquid Bling because it came as a set of freebies when I placed my first big order with AmerikanBodyArt (I ordered $500 worth of stencils and dry glitter in order to take advantage of their wholesale pricing, and the Bling came as a bonus.)

The tiny bottles with the metal tips give great control for flow amount and precision of detail.

I was sold and then ordered the larger refill bottles in nearly every color, and now I use those, too, directly on designs, though the control isn't as great.

But to apply a bit and swipe it with your little finger, you get a nice gold accent near an eye design. And there is no doubt that the little girls LOVE to choose a color or two to accent their design. Now there is no way I'd ever want to be without it because it brings so much joy and they walk off super-happy.

It seems to last (almost) forever too, through gig after gig.

The only thing I've watched out for is that I'm not sure if some of the Bling colors are okay near eyes. On the site, on their glitter page, there are some glitters that are said to be approved for use near eyes, and some that are not. So I stay with the bling colors that are made with the ones that are okay to use for face painting.

for the record it dose look better on a design than in a photo. But another use I found for it recently was when humidity was messing with my stlye/paint - grrr it was about 36c and humid.
It became almost disaterous to go highlight a small butterfly with white- I did attempt. but decided to highlight with bling. it worked well!

Has anyone ever mixed mica powder and aloe I am curious?

For photos less is more when it comes to using liquid bling. It looks great in person & is always part of my PPF upsell. I also use it to distinguish the birthday girl & set her apart from the other kids. Parents & kids always oohhh & aaahhh about it:-)

I have a bottle of the Mehron Mark Reid and it works fine for me. I guess I got a good batch! LOL

Basically, glitter mark had a bad batch. If you ever get another bad batch, it can be resolved by adding extra glitter.

I had been wanting to try some, when I decided to buy a bottle for my secret santa buddy. I just bought an extra bottle for myself.
I ordered it from Metina, here on the forum shop. LOVE it! So sparkly!
It does take a little long to dry, but SO worth the extra, because of the pop it gives designs. I will likely be buying more.
