Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
Just thought I'd share a photo of my Save the Dates that I'm cutting on my new Silhouette Cameo machine. It's working BEAUTIFULLY! I bought a bunch of vinyl with it also, so after I'm done with the STD cards and get those sent out, I'll start making some glitter tattoo stencils. I just need to find out what the best transfer tape will be to use. I'm super happy with the quality of the cutting on this... it does circles and points perfectly, unlike the Cricut. It does pull a little in some areas, but I'm using a textured cardstock, so I expected it. No tearing issues though and the imperfections are so minor even I barely notice them.
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
Looks great! my partner just bought me a cricut expression for my birthday and although i havent used it alot i did give it a test run and it cut perfect! is really noisey though?? is it ment to be like that or have i done something wrong?
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
so after I'm done with the STD cards and get those sent out...
In Canada, "STD" stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease.
When I first read your post, I did not clue into SaveTheDate as STD.
I was aghast when I first thought that now, people with STD's have to have glitter tattoos to show the world. YIKES!
I will read more carefully in the future.

Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
gorjessfaces, have been using (or rather my son has) an expression for the past month... it is rather loud...but so nice to order tatts from across the house...and have specifics for themed events!!
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
Wow, that looks awesome. I'm torn between a Silhouette or the Ecraft to replace my cricut. One day.
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
I LOVE my SILHOUETTE!!!
I use it for glitter tattoo stencils and Car Decals.
Super easy to use and is so precise.

Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
LOL.... sorry for the confusion... got lazy with the typing. I won't make that mistake again... don't need people avoiding me thinking i'm contagious!
And I LOVE the Silhouette. I have a cricut at work and there's no way it would cut this design so cleanly. The main reason i bought the machine was because I knew I wanted to do my wedding invitations like this... all intricate die cuts for the details. I think it's unique. GEtting to make my own glitter tat stencils is just a bonus.

Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
Apparently I got married in a previous era. What the heck is a save the date? Is it a new word for an invitation?
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
It's sortof a pre-invitation. You send them out about 6 months before the wedding, give or take, to bascily tell people, hey we're getting married and would like you to come... mark this on your calendar so you can plan ahead for it. It's especially good for out of towners so they can start planning their travel arrangements without it being last minute. Does that make sense?
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
hmmm i used my cricut machine last night to make a few stencils for face painting using that transparent plastic stuff... and my cricut machine cut sooooo smooth.. it was perfect
6 months before the wedding.. heck.. thats not enough time to plan a wedding lol

I did my wedding in 3 days. We got married on April 1st (April Fools Day) Half the people didnt show up because they thought it was a joke. LOL
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
oo, you got me beat. We went 3.5 weeks from proposal to wedding.
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
If you are a user of the silhouette cutter, can you please tell me if this is the model you are talking about?

Awesome! We have the same anniversary. My husband and I "eloped" on April Fool's Day! 28 years ago!

Just ordered the cameo advice please
I love your invitation!!!! I just ordered the Cameo die cutter and I am hoping to make an invitation very similar to yours for my daughter. She wants her name on top of the invitation like the way you have "save the date". Could you tell me how to get started? Steps to do this. Since my machine has not come yet I have no idea how to begin. Any help on how to get started is greatly appreciated.

Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
I found a silhouette sd not cameo for sale. The person selling iit said its just like the cameo but the cutting dimensions are 8 1/2 x ? Where as the cameo does 12". It's under 150.00 she has new blades cutting mats and all the accessories. For you silhouette users. Would you get this model, if u couldn't get the cameo, as a starter to see if you liked it?

I will get it, if you wanted only to cut small stuff and tattoo stencils is a good option, the cameo will cost you $260, it comes only with the mat and blade, if you buy a spatula it cost 6 dollars, so if you have an extra stuff good for you.
Re: Using my new Silhouette Cameo diecutter
got it now what? lol ... Just found out that non of the craft stores carry this so everything will have to be online... Picked up some hobby lobby brand vinyl tho and will need to read thru the other threads for what adhesive tape to use...I'm so excited to learn something new...like I have time.... lol thanks forum for all your great info.....
