Sponge Bag Space Saver
So I have to take the train with all my gear, and I noticed sponges are bulky... Then I came up with this while I was putting some chicken away from the grocery =D
It's a mini decompression pumpy thing for food storage, and it costs about $5. You place the pump over the circle on the bag and manually pump the air out. The sponges should pop right back to the way they were.
I don't remember how many sponges are in there, atleast 25 full sponges cut in half.
It's a little tricky to close all the way, and you kind of have to lean on the sponges to get all their air out while you use the pump... but imo, it's a huge space saver. The bags are also reuseable!
**EDIT
I just repacked, and managed to fit 50 full sponges cut in half in one bag, hehe.

Re: Sponge Bag Space Saver
Very cool! Do they pop but up into normal shape afterward? What a brilliant idea!
Btw, I initially thought your title said, "Sponge BOB space saver"....I was wondering what on earth that could be, lol. I guess maybe not too far from this!

Lol! Same difference...
And, yes, so far they have popped back up. I left them over night to make sure. I'm not sure about wet sponges, though...

I've been doing that for years... but don't need equipment. Just sit on the bag and zip it closed.

Wil they fit on your way home? When they are used and wet? I'm curious about that?

I'll be staying at someone's house, so carting to and from the event won't be a huge deal, then I can wash and repack. But I imagine if i had to, I could use the sucky thing even when they're wet, or use Shannon's trick, lol.
I mostly just wanted to save space in my suitcase for traveling

That's what I do, too. Works just as well.
